YRF have cropped their DVDs many times actually - usually to around 2.25:1, which JBJ is as well.

I'm all for watching a film as it was intended to be seen, but the difference between 2.35:1 and 2.25:1 is negligible.

True -- JBJ is 2.25.
What I am wondering is do they open up the matte on top and bottom, thereby increasing the vertical length which results in the AR falling from 2.35 to a lesser number, or do they actually crop from left and right. See the Censor Cert in the beginning -- it looks uncropped... (same comment for a lot of recent T-Series releases).

Indian EROS Cheeni Kum is 2.35 open matte -- resulting in 2.20 if I remember correctly. While EROS UK Cheeni Kum is closer to 2.35 without any open matte.

What is open matte on 2.35? Here: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=8314&p=77341&hilit=Then%2C+what+about+director%27s+intentions+of+chopped+heads+%40+2.35%3A1+%3F%3F#p77341

By all means avoid this film.

It's not a film, only a music video with no story or plot.

Terrible of Yashraj to fool movie goers this way. :(

I've already watched it a couple of times for the simply amazing music and choreography... and the simple plot ;)

 Not done proper right, music video w/o story, just minimal dialogues:shock:

Yashraj ripped off movie goers to the extreme.

Shame on Yashraj :(

I quite enjoyed JBJ once I came to terms with the fact that there wasn't really a story line. I liked seeing some of my fave places in the UK as well as seeing cameos of UK actors (Sanjeev, Meera etc)

I think though if I had made a great effort to go to the cinema to see this I would have been dissapointed - it's normally about a 45-60 minute drive to get to the cinema for me.

The film was quite clever in a way and 'different'. I think I can see how many people would hate it!

clever:shock: surprising that’s funny good one !!!

‘whatchamacallit’ as abishek said to max in film would likely be best fitting description of this movie

Other than Chak De India, this is the only Yashraj film I have enjoyed the last few years.

Problem is that it is too elitist, and therefore somewhat insulting to most viewers, myself included. On repeated viewing it's easy to note the writers think they're smarter than the average joe. Maybe they are, but you don't make hits, by talking down to your audience. Plus a bit too much overacting, French (badly accented at that) and sexuality for the diaspora. Odd that people don't mind semi-naked women or vulgar comedy on celluloid, but when a "romantic" film has characters repeatedly talking about prostitutes, promiscuity, etc, we are offended and shocked.

True, there is but a smidgeon of plot to this yarn, but it is a very fun episodic film. And Lara's Laila is too hot to trot.

Ten times better than the inane BNB by Shaad, the yawn-erific Love Legend Veer Zaara, and the atom bomb stupidity in the "drama" Fanaa.

 FUN film
>>Like it or not its Highway robbery on part of Yashraj to use a ploy making no plot film music video to con movie viewers.

If Yashraj wants to make music videos he should join TIPS and music Hangama from now on instead of indulging in cheap thrills exploitation :(

JBJ cannot come anyway near Fanna, vz, which contained thoughtfully written scripts. Less said about bnb the better

Ali_ikram, you did hit the nail in the coffin! Fanna was cliched, it had huge curiosity value as come back of Kajol, I loved the music courtesy to beautiful arrangements by Salim Sulaiman of JL's ordinary tunes! It was too overrated! Aamir and Kajol had done way better!

BNB was a DUD if you ask me. I did like the music out side the film more than JBJ.

VZ..what can I say!! we are land of bhed chal, jerks!again I thought Amitab/Hema were too over board as usual, only character that I remembered in the end was Divya Dutta! Music? now well, Lata was at her worst imho!.too much cliched!

JBJ, if you watch it like 2.5 act musical, for absolutely charming act of Lara and see songs as part of the musical theater then you can only watch it once!

Rest! Vulgarity, soft and insinuating into family culture domain is the order of the day! YRF, JOHAR and every one else is on the same band wagon. Long gone are true family films imho. People seem to like, appreciate, patronize and ask for it more in name of vulgarity. I think, our next generation has to live with this in the name of comedy, sensitivity, sensuality and glamor!
