I think this is exactly what they are going to do - Superbit Deluxe DVDs are going to start appearing; dual disc versions of Superbit titles.
I think CT are unfairly over criticised with the Superbit tag, other call their DVDs Special Collectors editions, Platinum/Infinifilm series etc. and the Superbit tag is just a marketing tag too, that stands out form the crowd. And in some ways it's worked better than others.

I have no problem with the "Platinum Series" banner New Line has because it simply denotes that the disc has a few special features. "Infinifilm" denotes that the disc has more interactive features than most DVDs. And so far, the Infinifilm titles have lived up to their name. Every studio has this. Fox, MGM, and Columbia use "Special Edition" and Universal uses "Collector's Series."
But Superbit sort of implies that these DVDs are better than other DVDs from other companies that don't have a special banner like that on them. I've used Fox and Universal as studios who frequently put out reference quality DVDs, but they don't call them "Super" anything. And why does Superbit have to be an either-or situation in the first place when it comes to extras? Would it have been so hard to put a second disc on the Superbit "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" without calling it "Superbit Deluxe"?
Is it too much to ask that Columbia do what other studios do without putting a special banner on the cover? Paramount frequently releases featureless DVDs, but you don't see a special banner on those, do you
