Here's an article from dvdfile that I got linked from avsforum ...I think all dvds should be in Super Bit and DEi should come out with its own "Super Bit".

The problem with Columbia's "Superbit" line is that the original releases of some of the titles weren't that good in the first place, so of course the Superbit versions will look better. "Fifth Element" and "Air Force One" were on a single layer on the original release, with the WS on one side and pan and scan on the other. And the videophiles know that Columbia often filters out the highest frequency details to easier compress the titles. They don't do this on the Superbit titles, and they shouldn't do this on non-Superbit titles either.

Why not just put the non-commentary extra features on a second disc and not give a DVD such a pretentious name as "Superbit"? There are plenty of excellent quality titles from other companies, such as Fox and Universal, that don't have "Superbit" written at the top of the cover. And they have extras on them too. Take the "Fight Club" R1 disc. FOUR commentaries on the first disc, with DD and DTS 5.1 sound and good quality anamorphic video.

I think this is exactly what they are going to do - Superbit Deluxe DVDs are going to start appearing; dual disc versions of Superbit titles.

I think CT are unfairly over criticised with the Superbit tag, other call their DVDs Special Collectors editions, Platinum/Infinifilm series etc. and the Superbit tag is just a marketing tag too, that stands out form the crowd. And in some ways it's worked better than others.

I have no problem with the "Platinum Series" banner New Line has because it simply denotes that the disc has a few special features. "Infinifilm" denotes that the disc has more interactive features than most DVDs. And so far, the Infinifilm titles have lived up to their name. Every studio has this. Fox, MGM, and Columbia use "Special Edition" and Universal uses "Collector's Series."

But Superbit sort of implies that these DVDs are better than other DVDs from other companies that don't have a special banner like that on them. I've used Fox and Universal as studios who frequently put out reference quality DVDs, but they don't call them "Super" anything. And why does Superbit have to be an either-or situation in the first place when it comes to extras? Would it have been so hard to put a second disc on the Superbit "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" without calling it "Superbit Deluxe"?

Is it too much to ask that Columbia do what other studios do without putting a special banner on the cover? Paramount frequently releases featureless DVDs, but you don't see a special banner on those, do you :-)
