Is the Shenaroo version 175 mins? Then the film time (assuming 4% shift) at Shemaroo has to be 182 mins. Whereas IMDb states the running time as 186 mins.

The T-Series version, most probably, is 186 mins (as specified in a Torrent website). So T-Series is most probably Pseudo Progressive (may be Progressive as well). And I saw clips of the song "Honthon Mein Aisi Baat" on Sony Mix channel (India), which showed NO speed-up and had a clean print (maybe was cleaned for telecast). I'll be picking up the T-Series DVD next month (board exams are just round the corner) and will confirm further doubts.

Meanwhile, Mr. rana, can you confirm the running length from the CC in the Shemaroo DVD?

Thanks!

P.S. The Eros version seems to be even shorter (168 mins or so I read). Any confirmations??

1967 film CC shows a film length of 5077 meters which is 185 min.

Shemaroo DVD has 2-3 pattern, so is not 4% speed up.
Shemaroo DVD run time is 176 min. So the discrepancy is 9 min.

I don't have the EROS DVD. 168 min EROS DVD run time might be the same 176 min film time @ 4% speed up ??

It'll be interesting to see if T-Series DVD really is 185-186 min. It'll be another miracle if T-Series DVD does not turn out to be Field Blended PAL to NTSC. If it's PAL to NTSC, it can't be more than 178 min video (185 min film).

---------------------------
BTW, for old Bollywood films, at best you can expect a Pseudo Prog (Film to NTSC) DVD, specially from cheap companies (Unless you get a DEI/ BEI, some Super Digital, some EVP). Only one in a Thousand chance that an old Bollywood film DVD that's not 4% speed up, could be Progressive. Mostly it's Film to TV, and TV in India is PAL, but the market is NTSC, so just converted PAL TV to NTSC TV. Remember, equipment only knows PAL and NTSC and does not know that it was 24 fps material originally.

And I had expected it to be the other way round. I thought that Eros would be Pseudo Progressive and Shemaroo would be Field Averaged. (when I did not know the running length)

Happy to know that Shemaroo (the one convenient for me) is Pseudo Progressive.
Is their Chroma Lag in the Shemaroo version too?? Can smart players detect the 2-3 pull down to play the DVD as Progressive?

Also, the Shemaroo version looks too green and dull! But it's okay!

I'll update the T - Series details as soon as I catch hold

If equipment (recording) can delay chroma signal, some equipment/ routine (playback) can advance (or delay rest of the video) it too. Don't know which player can do that. (Professional equipment sure should be able to). Could be auto detect or manually adjust delay/ advance signals. But, if the equipment can detect the 2-3 pattern and also chroma lag, it can not only just correct the chroma timing, it can also throw away the un-required duplicated field and re-program it to play as 24 fps Progressive.

Just received the T-Series version. My hands are too scared to open it. Its still sealed and I haven't even seen the back cover.

Probably will 'unleash' it after my exams.

Still trembling to open (I guess its on a single layered disc)
