When I play the special features on Ayan BD, there is no video but only audio. Anybody encountering the same problem.....

I don't have that problem..the special features play just fine with good Audio and Video!

Hi Sunny,

I just wanted to say thanks for providing all this info that you are sharing with the consumers - its one of the reasons I registered here.

Thanks for all the work you are doing on Blu-ray and any other work. I may not understand all the technical discussion re quality of the Blu-Ray's but I did enjoy watching Billa on my Blu-Ray setup.

I haven't bought Sivaji yet, as it wasnt a great film, but will do eventually.

I'm not a big fan of Vijay, so I dont think I'll be buying any of his movies either - although I cant say the same of my family members ;-)

Although I am a big fan of Vikram, I have to say I will not be buying Kandhasamy. I may borrow it from someone, just to see how it looks in Blu-ray, but its not a film that I would like to have in my collection!

Anyway, I hope there will be lots more (good) Tamil Blu-ray's coming soon, which I will be more than happy to get.

Hi Sunny,

The Kandaswamy Blu-ray is out just like you promised and I think that I must've been one of the 'early birds' to have ordered the Blu-ray. I am waiting with bated breath to see how it is gonna look and sound. I guess 'Kuruvi' should see the light of day hopefully sooner rather than later. Any chance of 'Kaakha Kaakha' or 'Vettayadu Villayadu' on Blu-ray? 'Roja' would be a gr8 movie on Blu too, except for the fact that the source is so..o.. old and is probably not well-preserved, not to mention the potential loss in PQ during conversion. Any thoughts on the above?

Thanks,
S.Vasanth

Kuruvi has gone for replication. It should be out before xmas.

Kaakha Kaakha , Vettayadu Villayadu & Roja will not appear on blu-ray for a long long time.

The next release after Kuruvi will be Unnai Pol Oruvan (Tamil & Telugu version on one disc). It will be the first telugu Blu-ray release - which is in good quaility!!!

Thank you for your kind comments. Billa on blu-ray is the closest version to seeing the director's vision of the film - (deep blacks, blue hues & high contrast levels). Sadly, the only existing source was a JPEG2000 digital file, a format which is used to display films digitally on cinema. Since the negative and DPX file was damaged we resorted to JPEG2000.

Not coming out on blu-ray until producer releases the DPX files for us to use.

Why does everyone keep asking/talking about Vettayadu Villayadu? It's the worst Kamal Hasan film ever, and probably one if not the worst film of that year.

Excellent news on bilingual audio tracks though! Hopefully this trend will continue for the dubbed films! Especially Kannathil Muthamittaal? When I watched this film (on DVD), I was disappointed to find the track Vidaikodu Engal..was used as a background track, which was fine, as it suited the mood of the scene, but I was hoping for "Extras" feature to host the entire song. Have they done DTS mixing for the entire song? That would be an awesome extras feature!!

How will the Unnaipol Oruvan disc handle the two versions? The Tamil version featured Mohanlal as the cop, while the Telugu version had Venkatesh in that role instead. Will there be seamless branching?

I'll buy this disc, since I'm curious to see how it is different from A Wednesday, and also because this was the first big Indian release shot with the Red One camera.

Hi Sunny -

I am a new member to this forum. But I have been big fan of Ayngaran DVDs / BDs for years now. I really wait to see the movie in Ayngaran DVDs in my home theater instead of watching it in Theaters or Sruthilayam DVDs. Excellent job by you all.

Quesiton for you,

On Ayan BD, when audio is set to DTS-HD MA, it looks like one of the front speakers output passed to rear speaker?. Is that only me noticing this or anyone else have the same problem. But I haven't noticed in any other movie except this one.

Few suggestions -

1. Is it possible to release BD on par with DVDs? You have released one of movie in BD before DVD. This may be good idea to increase BD sales since BD viewers will definitely watch the movie in BD, otherwise some times if they watched in DVD, they may not interested in BD.

2. If you list upcoming BD / DVD release with approximate expected date, it will be helpful for fans like instead of checking the website every day to see any new disc released.

3. What is the next BD release after Unnaipol Oruvan?. Are you going to release Peranmai in BD. Since it is Ayngaran production, will you release it in BD before DVD?.

Thank you.
Mayil

I guess there will be an option in the menu to choose either version. Gonna be very interesting.

Hi, this is my first post to this forum. I love watching Tamil Films. I have been buying plenty of Ayngaran DVD's especially Isai Thendrals, they have good songs and composition most of the time.
Recently I Bought Sivaji in Blu-ray, the picture quality is superb and with magnificent colours and sharp.
I just want to know if Ayngaran could release Blu-ray before DVD, as Blu-ray is less known from the Tamil public and also it will considerably increase the demand for Tamil Blu-rays. I am also wondering whether Ayngaran could start producing Isai Thendral on Blu-ray format, as they did for DVDs.

Now, as Blu-ray Disc Association has made 3D also their standard for their Blu-ray format and producer are moving to 3D films (Avatar). I ask Ayngaran whether they have any intention to start in 3D and converting 2D films into 3D Blu-ray? or producing/making a 3D film for the Tamil audience in the upcoming days or years.
Ayngaran is doing a fantastic job and Sunny thanks for the quality and the work you are doing.

The Kanthaswamy Blu-ray is another winner from the Ayngaran stable. The PQ is reference-grade paralleling Sivaji. But, don't expect the same kind of picture though. It showcases the unique colour palette and the hues that were present throughout the whole film, with even the film grain being reproduced faithfully. The AQ is again A+. There is no other way to describe it. Like I mentioned earlier, though the movie by itself isn't too good at all, the Kanthaswamy Blu-ray is a worthy challenger to Sivaji's mantle as the best Indian Blu-ray

Thank you for purchasing Sivaji.

I am in discussion on doing a "Isai Thendral HD" for blu-ray. However, this will be a huge task as I want to make this blu-ray interactive as possible (karaoke, multiple subtitles, remix versions etc...). Not sure when this will be out as other film projects take priority.

Finally, we will not be releasing any 3D films on blu-ray (unless it was shot and released on cinema in 3D). My work on blu-ray is to present the film EXACTLY how it was shown on cinema. 3D will kick off within Indian cinema at some point next year.
