Even with the RED camera, that won't stop Indian filmmakers using DNR during post production.

I can't believe the synopsis actually acknowledges that Prabhu Deva is better known as 'Benny Lava'.

Unfortunately. If they would just do dust busting and leave the grain alone I wouldn't mind. I hope they stop when Red One, Scarlet and Epic take over. :D

I have the same hope, but maybe they'll shoot on RED and source the DVD and Blu-Ray from a 35mm print!

A few forthcoming Tamil films have been shot on the RED

Achchamundu Achchamundu
Thiru Thiru Thuru Thuru
Ethirmarai
Margazhi Raagam

Fistful of Curry  If the synopsis of the film is correct, Villu rips off Kung Pow: Enter the Fist.

Sanjay, the RED One camera is a 4K (four times 1080p HD) resolution digital camera.

I'm quite sure movies should have "synopsis" on the back, whereas this reads more like a review of the movie - most likely written by an American and possibly a fan of the ps3 game "Assassin's Creed"?!!

...and actually referencing a youtube hit...??? this has to be a first in a "synopsis"!

Thanks, although I am familiar with the 'RED One' camera, I was just not sure of the context it had been mentioned in.

Why? Noisy blacks? If they expose properly there should be no objectionable noise in the images.

Indian filmmakers love the soft, colourful look. They tend to think natural film grain spoil the image (the idiots).

^ Thats like saying, lets remove the alcohol from beer and serve people just water with the flavour. Pretty much like the american Budweiser.

a technical question - wouldn't grain be more favourable on (pseudo) progressive DVD9s as opposed to the field-avged pieces of junk indian film companies spit out?

Red Footage has no grain and looks smooth and analogue if they don't sharpen it to hell. Applying DNR only turns smooth into plastic and waxy. Who want's that if they can have smooth and grainfree without plastic and waxy? Only idiots, indeed.

I've seen raw 4K footage from the RED camera, and with low lighting some noise can be seen (might be due to a bad DOP). It looked quite similar to film grain.
RED cameras does look amazing...but I think Arri forthcoming Digital Camera will knock its socks off. It will feature better specs then the exisiting D21.
