Very good I thought and very funny in places esp the younger days of Lucky had me in laughing. Bit of a slow dark humour type film, much like the directors previous Khosla Ka Ghosla!

Surprisingly, I really enjoyed this movie. Could you classify this even as black comedy?

another major irritant in the new UTV-MoserBaer DVDs are the unskippable forced advertisements (nearly 15 minutes?) at the beginning.

This doesn't but I believe Fashion and A Wednesday do.

Can someone pl clarfy what's the catch that Paresh Rawal has 3 parts in the film, that of Lucky's father in the beginning, Gogi Bhai in the middle and Dr Handa in the end ??

These are three different characters, at three different times, with no relation between them. Then, why not three different actors. Or else, why not all 100 or more characters by one actor, if they really were after saving money ??

@rana

all three characters are played by paresh rawal because all three act as Lucky's father figure at some point in his life.

this was one of the most underrated movies from last year. people went in with the expectation of a comedy film considering there are not one but THREE roles played by paresh rawal. those people who were disappointed with the movie failed to get the whole point of the movie. while the movie did have its share of humor, the main point of the movie was to show Lucky always trying to do whatever it takes (including stealing!) to receive real love from people around him (whether it's his father, a person like a father, a friend, or a girl...) At the same time the movie tried to show the upper middle class' materialism and their obsession with wealth and anything to do with the west!

Thanks for the clarification MunnaBhai.

Same actor playing different characters is something like John Travolta's film Pulp Fiction. In that film too I kept on wondering what's going on.
In both films, while watching the film for first time, I was thinking of some mystery.

Yes, I did like the Oye Lucky film. It was not boring anywhere. Best scenes (comedy/ realistic/ humour) I liked were the ones by Manjot Singh playing young Lucky.

I don't really like films that glorify unjustified crime. It wouldn't have been too difficult to show or state somewhere in the film that those filthy rich people, from who he steals, obtained that wealth illeagally or something. Reason for Young Lucky's animosity with his father is shown though, that he brought in a 2nd wife and that he didn't care for his family.

@ rana

which actor in Pulp Fiction plays two different roles?? I don't remember there being a double role in that movie...please refresh my memory...

And who said that the people that Lucky steals from in OLLO are rich because of illegal means? They are normal upper-middle class people living in suburbs of Delhi... Lucky doesn't steal from them because he thinks they don't need/deserve those things or something....his only motive for stealing is to get approval from society, from the people who he cares about...he thinks that one needs to be rich, wear fancy clothes, talk in english, etc. in order to get recognition/approval from society...he thinks this because that is what he saw as he was growing up. This is why in the beginning of the movie when they show the young Lucky, he often becomes defensive towards his friends by saying "Kyun? Main nahi kar sakta kya??"

there are no double or triple roles in Pulp Fiction -- the movie has a non-linear editing which might have created the impression Rana has...?

I saw Pulp Fiction when it initially released (must be some 15 Yrs back) and don't remember much. I think there was/ were one or two main actors that appear in the first episode, one dies, and then he/ they appear again in the later episode.
Pulp Fiction does air on TV often but I have no stamina to watch it again for 2-3 hrs. It's not my cup of tea.

-------------
As I said before, I did like Oye Lucky film but not the theft/ cheating glorifying message. I did not like theft/ cheating glorification in Byunty Bubbli either.
