According to the TV programme "Asian Variety Show" during their DVD review segment - the BD of Jodha Akbar is releasing in 3-4 weeks. No other info was given.

jmo1980, FarooqBhai, Zoran009, mrbrat_Boy, Sanjay, toddly6666, DragunR2, urbanlegend, and all zulmis disappointed with the non-anamorphic letterbox non-16x9-enhanced transfer of Jodhaa Akbar DVDs from BIG and UTV -- let's also post our thoughts of how we are disappointed and how we feel shortchanged by what we've bought legally -- on -- aamir's blog -- at http://www.aamirkhan.com/blog.htm

He does carry clout, and he does seem to have heard the zulmis when taking out the TZP dvd. It takes less than a minute to create an account on his blog.

Go for it guys. If we all write, he may share the feedback with ashutosh and utv.

Thanks!

And, toddly6666, that was a good review you wrote abt the dvd.

SONY  wow

SONY  wow

Now that's exactly my sentiments. But I don't uinderstand how and why would Sony be releasing this and if they did would they bother to remaster. Naaa this sounds like too good to be true. Although if Sony does release this and if the BD of Jodha Akbar is even 90% of the Saawariya BD, then count me in at any price.

PS: Looks like the stupid Indian movie industry is following the old trend of releasing on VCD first and then later on DVD. If you aks me it makes a lot more sense to first release on BD and then later on DVD, although simultaneous release is the best. But if anything the premium product should come first, specially considering there is no piracy in BD yet.

But they want to SHOVE THE GARBAGE DOWN YOUR THROAT first because we really care about their garbage, whatever form and lowest caliber it might be :(

Wait, are we sitting around bitching about the Jodhaa Akbar DVD's not being anamorphic? Who gives a shit? It looks and sounds great (attractive packaging and an affordable price, too), and it's a fantastic film.

I for one do give a shit. Also. the DVD sounds okay but most certainly does not look very good. I suppose packaging is more important to you than the content itself, but for many here that is not the case and we would much rather have good quality audio & video rather than good packaging. In any case I fail to understand why the two cannot go hand in hand..

I'm sorry, but I don't recall mentioning that packaging is more important to me than content. I'm not sure what other people have been enduring, but my copy of Jodhaa Akbar is wonderful. The picture and sound are excellent, and, in addition, the packaging is quite attractive. I'm not sure whether or not the disc is anamorphic, but, it doesn't matter to me — again, it looks great. I'm all for demanding that manufacturers not offer us crap (all the while, decrying piracy), but the release of Jodhaa Akbar with which I'm familiar, is anything but. Being so caught in technical details as to deprecate something that's just fine is not being a wise consumer; it's being pedantic and numb-skulled.

I repeat, the audio of the DVD was okay at best, with surprisingly non-existent surround sound. As for the Video, I am sorry to say but the picture at times looks atrocious on a 106" screen. Believe it or not, even some Rs 50 Moser Baer DVD have looked better than the Rs 450 Jodha Akbar DVD. I personally don't care for technical details, but the fact si that more often than not, the technical details do end up representing the final results as they ost certainly do in the case of the non anamorphic Jodha Akbar DVD.

Yes, presentation affects our appreciate of a film, but, at least for this viewer, the presentation of Jodhaa Akbar on DVD takes away nothing from the experience of the movie.
