Imho, it does better than ORIG and DVD5/DVD 9 Joint. On the other end, I forcefully counter the point that EVERY ONE's PLAYERS, TVs, PCs, SYSTEMs are PLAGUED with defect except mhafner's???:shock:
Crappy JA DVD is UNIVERSAL TRUTH? rest is all made up lies! I do not think, mike has any involvement personally helping supervising transfer on this CRAP though like he did for Lakshya and possibly DCH? I would expect a professional like mhafner to disown such an abysmal quality product, right next to LOC- O by ZEROS!

I am not favoring or disfavoring any one here, but I did like Farooq's DVD 9 RM, and deplore this abysmally REGRESSIVE work, lowest on the quality chain by company like UTV, claiming International acclaim and Gwarikar another so proclaimed OSCAR quality director But Lengthy, boring, off the point films are NO GO for me any ways!

Bottom line, I prefer ANAMORPHIC video over whatever interlaced or prog any days. I remember how people like audit etc preferred GUPT by ZEROS over PROG GUPT by DEI.

I am in South Africa, and we ended up with BIG Home DVD of JA. Terribly disappointed even on a 42 inch LCD HD TV. Even zooming in causes more nonsense. How could they screw this up so BIG time, no pun intended. We waited so long for that Shitty transfer. The sound is quite good though but still that doesnt quite make up if the screen is so small. What was going on Ashutosh Gowarikers head to release this DVD like this!!!!

I do not think, it is to watch INTERLACED, PAL TO NTSC, CROPPED, LITTERBOX dvds? UTV conceived this retarded baby for 9 months in their shitty womb , finally giving birth to a deformed child They should have recalled those discs from the market imho, if it was a BY CHANCE ERROR Are these guys not only dumb but blind too hain kaya? They screwed up DON with hugely COMPRESSION ARTIFACTS RIDDEN CRAP DVD too., and grief continues.........and with all my due respect to mhafner and his expertise it is viewers equipment that is @ fault not these dvds

zoran, i agree with most of your thoughts except the one abt farooq's work being offered free -- farooq doesn't have legal rights to offer to others what he does as a hobby

I'm not saying the disc is correct. What exactly is there on the disc concerning the interlacing? Is it mastered 24fps? 60i? Wrong pulldown? What I have seen combs badly but why?
Apart from that the source material looks good enough so that there is hope for a good looking Blu Ray in the future.

thats the one, if you can simply make that one anamorphic and loose progressive/better sound on DEI( cropped) it will much more pleasant to watch. But best of both worlds would be PROG, OAR ANAMORPHIC WS with DEI SOUND it will never exist! EROS sound is not bad but DEI is marginally better, and suits better to visual and original soundtrack.

It's hard to speak up for the rights of companies that rip off their paying customers with such trash. I personally never buy pirated products, but then again I feel like a fool more often than not for sticking by the so called originals. The worst part is that at times I have actually come across pirated stuff that is better than the originals and ofcourse the pirated one's never have forced commercials/previews, sumperimposed logos and nor do they disable any of the player controls.
