While surfing, was surprised to notice that AB is not the one with most best actor filmfare awards, although he has been nominated for it the most.
Quote:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filmfare_Best_Actor_Award

Dilip Kumar (8 awards), Shahrukh Khan (7), Amitabh Bachchan (4); Rajesh Khanna, Naseeruddin Shah and Hrithik Roshan (3 each)

# Dilip Kumar has been nominated for 19 Filmfare Best Actor Awards in all and he won eight awards for Best Actor.
# Amitabh Bachchan has been nominated for 28 Filmfare Best Actor Awards in all (a record). He has won four.
# Shahrukh Khan has been nominated for 17 times, won 7 times.

Thats a dismal record for AB. Just 4 wins out of 28 nominations. Compare it to 7/ 17 for SRK and 8/ 19 for Dilip Kumar.

What Yrs did AB receive a nomination that he lost to actors in the quote below ??

Any comments on losses when, in your opinion, AB should have won ??

1975-76, Amitabh could have been nominated for Sholay, and so could have been Dharamendra, but it was Sanjeev Kumar who earned the distinction from Sholay. During the same period, Amitabh could also have won for Deewar...

I guess Deewar is more suitable for AB getting the best actor award

Sholay (1975) won only one Filmfare award: film editor M. S. Shinde won for Best editing.

It was Deewar, in the same year, 1975, which swept the awards:

Filmfare Best Movie Award- Gulshan Rai - Producer
Filmfare Best Director Award- Yash Chopra
Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award - Shashi Kapoor
Filmfare Best Story Award - Salim Khan & Javed Akhtar
Filmfare Best Dialogue Award - Salim Khan & Javed Akhtar
Filmfare Best Sound Award - M.A. Shaikh

Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor-Amitabh Bachchan
Filmfare Nomination for Best Supporting Actress-Nirupa Roy

In 1975, Rajesh Khanna got Best Actor Award for Aavishkar and Vinod Khanna got Best Supporting Actor Award for Haath Ki Safai.

Amitabh won Best Supporting Actor Awards for Anand, Namak Haraam & Mohabbatein.
