There's one release in Holland / Benelux too http://bollywoodwebshop.nl/index.php?ac ... 6da13cf9ab -- i hope this is not a pirated version. this site seems to have been awarded by the indian trade office (whatever that is) but also stocks dvds of jaane tu... !! and hence my apprehension abt pirated dvds on this site.

NewDeep bhai, that's almost definitely a pirated DVD of the film. Almost anything on that website is pirated (like you would easily find pirated DVDs everywhere in this country, but you really have to search for original DVDs, as the masses don't buy them, they rather go for 5 pirated DVDs for EUR 10). Normally an original DVD of a new film would at least cost around EUR 10,00 here.

this says runtime is 98 minutes -- is that a mistake? or is that the PAL-speedup equivalent? or is the dvd cut?
The Excel dvd is nearly 102 minutes.

One would have expected more from Excel. It is very dissapointing that they have not made this enhanced for 16:9 displays.

True!
But the Excel DVD does have an arguably unique subtitles feature. Very smart indeed ;-)

The back cover of the Excel DVD states:
Presentation Type: Fullscreen
Presentation Size: 4x3

This is obviously a mistake since the film is actually presented in a 16:9 ratio but without enhancement for 16:9 TVs in other words it is non anamorphic. I think Excel is going the way of the other Indian DVD manufacturers, totally uncaring of the quality of the DVDs they put out. Not even bothering to put the correct specifications on the cover. Shame on Excel, this was certainly not expected from them.

u are right about the dvd case, sanjay.
i think it should have been
Presentation Type: widescreen 1.85:1
Presentation Size: 4x3 (non anamorphic)

also, the runtime should have been 102:06 minutes...

in terms of colours, excel is certainly better than devis. and the smart subtitle options is definitely a plus on excel.
