Any idea who will be remastering this DVD as well as my other fav, DRPH ? ...The cover design looks very similar to the crap SuperDigital stuff... ( I fear SD might do these dvds again) but can someone confirm this ?

I still dubious about these two releases (DTPH & KKKH) even though someone told me that picture quality is quite good. It's an opportunity missed to make these two movies into dual disc collector’s editions (neither DTPH nor KKKH mention 'spectacular' dual discs) - especially for KKKH which has running time of nearly 3 hours. Fitting all them extras onto same disc like the first edition - video quality is going to suffer in the process.

Is it just me who thinks KKHH print was preety good in the first place with good sound.

It beats most of the rubbish that is out.

I was happy with the print and thought it was pretty good now I also have a 27" tv therefore if there were any problems with it I probably would not have noticed it. Bigger TVs tend to show more problems.

KKHH's print was quite good and since it is non-anamorphic the picture is very sharp on normal tv sets

Is it true or are you implying that anamorphic picture degrades (no matter how little) the picture quality on 4:3 TV sets??

I read something like this years ago as a reason why DVD makers who want to optimize picture quality for normal TVs (4:3) prefer non-anamorphic letterboxed format ??

The 33% sharper picture from anamorphic video applies only to viewing on widescreen tvs since the 120 vertical lines are utilized only then. But on a normal 4:3 tv a non-anamorphic video looks much sharper than a anamorphic video.

Of course ultimately anamorphic video is definitely better provided you own a widescreen tv since the overall vertical and horizontal sharpness is very much higher.

Is it because a non-anamorphic letterboxed picture is displayed on a 4:3 TV wiyhout any more video processing, where as, anamorphic picture requires an extra step of video processing if made to display on a 4:3 TV??

Any un-neccessary video processing degrades picture quality.

Of course, the picture degradation due to anamorphic on 4:3 is miniscule. But, I think this is the excuse, that letterbox DVD makers give that they want to optimize the picture quality for the majority who own 4:3 TVs??

Actually the truth is that it totally depends on the player. Most good players do a good job of displaying anamorphic DVDs on a 4:3 TV. But some players are very bad at this and it is only in these cases that a Non Anamorphic DVD is better than Anamorphic DVDs for 4:3 TVs. Sony DVD players are infamous for not handling this well, atleast their first generation DVD players.

Aaaaack, I *just* bought this movie last week and now I'm going to have to buy it again! I didn't think the transfer was too bad, and the sound was quite good--but if the video is going to be vastly superior it looks like I'm going to end up owning two copies of this film. Oh well, I guess the old copy will have to make a nice gift for someone. :D

the kkhh print is good but the subtitling is formatted wrongly for 16:9 tvs (at least it is in my pirate which is a rip off of the original dvd)
