While many will differ!! I have heard the both of them..just to get a feelings for, after seeing a huge brick battle going on!!in between the deol vs devgan fans!
Here! If I sum it up!!
LEGEND OF BAGAT SINGH:RKS/AJAY DEVGAN/A.R.REHMAN)
PROS:seems like film is made supposedly from its looks kinda on track of 1942 LOVE STORY!! for all INDIA appeal!!
NO doubt, it is set in PUNJAB as BHAGAT SINGH was a NATIVE PUNJABI!!
If done on lines of 1942 love story!!
Music by Rehman will go very well!!! with it!!
Music has a lot of melody/classy feel, different style with Rehman impression on that, and it will grow with time!!
Now CONS:Abit lack of folk/punjabi feeling in overall all numbers??? But I must say, most of the numbers that had to be patriotic with punjab backdrop, Rehman tried his best, with choosing right singers and instruments like Sonu Nigam and Sukhvinder etc!! These Patriotic numbers have a a lot of ZEST and ENERGY!!
The 2 romatic kinda numbers Mahive and Jogiya!! have more of a Rehman feel to it?? accused of southish flavour?? But they might not make a highlight in the film it self!!? But overall, I loved both of them due to their soothing melodious tunes and excellent and cream la cream singing by Alka and Udit!!
Finally, where this album suffer is in LYRICS department, where Sameer was absolutely a VERY WRONG pick by Santoshi to compliment A.R.REhman a southern music composer!! a big let down here as Sameer does not seems to be as INSPIRATIONAL for Rehman to COMPLIMENT or AROUSE more folkish Punjabi flavour!!
IMO..Sameer tried but he could not come up to mark! as he is not capable of that, and it effected Rehman's OVER ALL EFFECT too!!
SHAHEED BHAHGAT SINGH(SUNNY DEOL/Boby/Anand Raj)
Now for film..it will have more like a punjabi feel to it, like GADAR and SHAHEED BOOTA SINGH type!!
For the reason, Boy deol will glue better in title role!!
Deol's ruling in Punjab/North will help a lot!!as they might be able to relate to back drop in a better and simple way!!
Director1!! Gudu Dhona..kinda Salakhen , Zidi brand..IMO might not be capable to direct a epic/period film properly(u dont know how much sunny will be involved him self)
Aiswarya..in comeo role will be aDDED BONUS for UR EYES ONLY!!
Now..Music:
Anand Raj Anand..though Punjabi but is not a DISTINGUISHED composer of CLASS and STYLE and TALENT like REHMAN iIMHO?
He has STILL GIVEN>> very simple garden variety tunes or composition fitting a punjabi narative, not using any particular STYLE..just SIMPLE ,to the point TUNES!!
He has been complemented very well, with a folky, punjabi/patriotic lyrics that glue very well to his tunes and oVER ALL to the backdrop of the film!!
Still..not on the PAR with GADAR..that had more RUSTIC feel to it!!
IN the END!! If u are buying one of the two!!Which u will enjoy more, would listen over and grow: LOBS by REHMAN< UNDOUBTEDLY IMO!!
While SHAHEED might even make a PERFECT composition to fit and lead even a DOCUMENTORY on BHAGAT SINGH forward..it does have that kind of APPEAL:
JOGIYA by Alka if u compare both..one from SHAHEED inches better as Alka seems to be very TRUE to HEART in That COMPOSITION with COMPLIMENTORY/EXCELLENT lyrics..Rest I'll favour LOBS by Rehman!!
Once the film will release I think Rehman's track will benefit a lot!
But who knows GADAR took off after release too, comparative to LAGAAN, but
LOBS is not as MELODIOUS on PAR as LAGAAN>.as requirements are different, more patriotism here and PERFECT blend of director/lyricist/composer is lacking..as it was an ASSET in LAGAAN!!
GADAR was a kinda DRY track before film came out but became meaning ful after FILM was released with some racy tunes like..maen nikla, hum juda etc!!
Listen to both of them without being BIASED or PARTIAL toward, Sunny, Santoshi, Devgan and Rehman ,Punjab or South??
and then HONOUR US WITH UR FINAL @ CENTS please?
MY personal pick is LOBS over SHAHEED BHAGAT SINGH..as far as music is concerned..
