There's been so much hype over the sequel to Batman Begins that I have to wonder, has Heath Ledger's death had anything to do with it. I heard that he's being tipped for an oscar. But people have already been saying this film is the best superhero movie of all time that even though I wasn't initially looking forward to it so much, it's now got me very interested. Even those on NDTV India seem to be going crazy over it.
Kevin Smith (of Clerks) said that The Dark Knight is "the Godfather 2 of superhero movies". But the biggest shock came when I went to check the reviews on IMDB...at a rating of 9.7 (out of ten) it has overtaken both The Godfather and The Shawshank Redemption in the top 250 films of all time and is currently at the number 1 position. Imagine that, a superhero movie being the greatest film of all time?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0468569/

I'll see it on Friday...with all this hype, it had better be nothing short of amazing.

midnight opening went bombastic, thanks to HL, being no more worked as money spinner for warner. It was still long lines today so purchased tickets for tomorrow and watched 3D journey to the center of Earth

imdb.com 9.7/10 (23,611 votes) (it was 9.7 with 7k votes last night) - I'm avoiding reading anything about it. Loved the first movie and looking forward to this.

If Kevin Smith loves it, that's more than enough proof for me that the film is rubbish.

Tim Burton's Batman films should be praised simply for annoying so many comic book geeks that favour the kind of bland, pseudo-intellectual nonsense Chris Nolan's versions offer over the soul, humour and substance of real cinema that the likes of Burton can create. Sadly these fanboys now make up a large majority of the audiences that American movie studios cater to and will lap TDK up as evidenced by the IMDb ratings. The reviews I've seen from non-internet sources have been decidedly less ecstatic.

Forget the war on terror. We need a war on comics. Maybe then Hollywood will start making proper films again.

its a really good movie...but a bit long..my butt started hurting..heath ledger deserves an oscar for this role regardless if he was dead or alive,he plays the joker really well..like a real psychopath..and not really like a clown..much..

i love the scene where he makes the pencil dissapear..ull know wat im talking bout when u see it hehe..

colin farrell didnt do his scenes in this movie...might be for heaths next movie which he didnt complete coz colin farrell is listed in credits for that movie..but i heard johnny depp will be completing heaths parts for that movie..johnny is also in the credits..its called imaginarium of something something..

I think, too much hype! Too long! too many characters! SFX are good in all films these days! Joker was good though but not better than Jack Nicholas!

For sure as there is no such actor in any Batman film.

I was half-serious. ;)

I won't entirely judge a film I haven't seen, but Kevin Smith is such an untalented whiner and him giving his opinions on good filmmaking is like Michael Jackson giving advice on plastic surgery.

I still think, film is way over hyped because of HL's death!

Batman is back, bigger and better than ever.

I saw this movie last night on an IMAX screen. What an amazing movie, Heath Ledger put on a performance that will forever be talked about when comparing villains on the big screen. Every time he was on the screen you just couldn't turn your head.

The nurse’s outfit would have to be one of the best scenes I have seen in a movie in the last decade.

Other favorite Joker scenes:
1) The Disappearing Pencil. Wow.

2) I want my phone call.

3) Street face-off

4) Well hello beautiful.

Well I tried to see it last night, it was sold out (2 hours before the film was due to start). A friend of mine went earlier today and it was also sold out. A few friends have seen it, they all love it, but I can't talk about it with them since I haven't seen it. :? They all said it has an amazing script and direction, as well as HL's performance. According to them it's the best superhero/comic-book movie ever made by far and critics were saying it's gonna be remembered in many years in the same league as the Star Wars and LOTR films. With some many raving about it, maybe the hype was justified? Now I feel like I'm missing out. I'm gonna have to see it sometimes mid-week or next week when all the crowds have calmed down. My friend will be seeing it on IMAX on Monday, I wonder if I should see the IMAX version first or the theatrical version?

And what's the deal with people dressing up as the joker when going to see this film? I must've seen a few already. It this the start of some cult movement? :?

Well it's filmed as an 'Imax' film and it's an extended version of the theatrical cut. I'm not sure by how many minutes it has been extended by. I'm sure it's worth seeing on IMAX, just wondering if it's better to see the theatrical cut first. In the UK, due to the high demand for the IMAX version, tickets were sold out two weeks in advance, that I heard that they are now showing it 24-hours at IMAX cinemas.
