From http://www.buzz18.com/news/movies/aamir ... on/43591/0

Aamir Khan is in a fix. The actor is still confused whether to add his commentary as a director for the Taare Zameen Par DVD or not. Buzz is that he is asking his close friends for suggestions.

When contacted, Aamir said, "I feel I have said what I had to through the film. I think films should be experienced, I shouldn't need to explain stuff."

Aamir went on to explain why he is in a dilemma. He said, "All I want to know from you all is, do you really want me to do a director's commentary for the DVD release? Also, while we are at it, is there something, which you would especially like in the DVD? I've already put in what I think will be great extras, but maybe I've missed out on something."

A director's comment is often a bonus feature on critically acclaimed film DVDs. Through this the filmmaker gets an opportunity to elaborate on his craft, his intent and sensitise the discerning viewer to hidden aspects of the film.

Aamir Khan has also discussed about the same on his blog asking for opinions.

As pissed as we may be about you smoking, I'm much more pissed
about the delay in the TZP DVD!!! Considering you were the one
complaining about piracy, if you delay the DVD so much, what are
we supposed to do? Please please please work on the DVD of TZP,
we'd like it ASAP!

KK you have every right to be. The DVD of TZP has indeed been delayed beyond even my expectations. But I am really strict about quality control, so though all creative work on the DVD had been completed a few weeks ago I kept rejecting the test DVDs. The good news is that its all techinal work is almost done now and the DVD should hit the market very soon. Will make an official announcement as soon as I get the confirmed date.

Dear Aamir,
Good to know you rejected so many test DVDs of TZP. Goes on to
show you care abt this medium...
With people like you, there's hope for the Indian dvd fan and
the
Indian dvd industry.
So, eagerly awaiting the dvd which won't be
T-series Zameen Par as usual ;-)

@ NewDeep2
Did Aamir reject DVDs of TZP? Where did you get this news?
Anyways, I believe that the DVD of Lagaan was the best ever DVD.
Nothing comes close in terms of the quality. I wish TZP is
released by Excel Videos as well. They were good with Lagaan
@ Aamir
Who is releasing the DVD? Is it T-Series (they are good with
audio, but DVD... nah) or Eros or Excel (preferred)?

DEVINDER/AAMIR:
All right, if we are talking about the DVD, please don't let it
be Eros. Their ads for themselves at the beginning is just
toooooooooooooo long to bear. And you cannot skip it, you have to
sit their and listen to their "Eros Entertainment brings you
Bollywood" talk while all you want is to watch the film. PLEASE
no Eros!
PS, Devinder, he talked about rejecting DVD versions in one of
his comments.

@ Isabel
Hi! Long time. I posted this morning on the 'Sachin the great'
blog, but just after that Aamir came up with this post and my
comments were missed.
Anyways, I totally agree with you on Eros. They produce the worst
DVDs and fill it up with un-skippable ads. Really gets on one's
nerves. The company that produced the Lagaan's DVD were the best
IMHO. Even Sony couldn't match them in quality. Case in point -
RDB DVD. So I sincerely hope it's Excel again, and if not, at
least the quality of Excel is emulated in TZP.

@Devinder/Aamir/Isabel
Eros is another dvd company that is a shame to bollywood.
Indian dvd companies that do India proud are Excel Home Videos,
Palador (see my earlier post on Palador regarding world cinema),
and... and... well, YashRaj to an extent.
TZP will be T-series -- I feel like throwing up... unless Aamir
can pull off a miracle.

@DEVINDER
I couldn't agree with you more on Excel Home Videos and Lagaan --
great company -- fabulous dvd indeed!!
And I totally agree abt T-series -- they are crappy when it comes
to DVDs. Aamir's involvement may make them deliver something that
we cherish all or lives, but I am not too hopeful -- those
buggers are quite capable of taking him for a ride...
Click "Aamir's Responses" which is the link you can see to the
Right Hand Side of the "Post Comment" link and you'll see Aamir's
note abt how he's rejecting test dvds of TZP

Indiaplaza.in has the DVDs and VCDs now at 10% discount.

http://www.indiaplaza.in/movies/indian/ ... eenpar.htm

DVD - Rs.499 (449)
VCD - Rs.160 (146)

And it's a T-Series release. With a higher price than normal, I believe they would go for a proper packing instead of cheap plastic covers.

that's great work, inman!
indiaplaza seems to be the only site in the world to have this on sale (other than the b4u site, I think).

I posted this info in aamir khan's blog, and man, what a furore it has created! people want to know why aamir did not break news of the dvd!!

Expected FEATURES!!!

The TZP Taare Zameen Par DVD from T-series is likely to be a
2-DVD plus 1-Audio-CD pack --- a 3-disc set!

WITH audio commentary and some collectibles.

Hooray!
