Was Kaante ever released in 5.1? I remember seeing it in theater in DD 2.0. Sanjay did you see this in cinema? Was it in DD 5.1 or DTS? I suspect the prints might have been released in Dolby Stereo and DTS but not in Dolby Digital. A few years back this is how Indian movies used to shown in cinema. But somehow Real Image(DTS) doesn't have the movie on their list too.

I saw this film at Satyam Cineplex (best sound/theater in Delhi) and although I would not bet my life on it, I think it was screened in Dolby Digital and not DTS. As for the sound, it was excellent. This is one DVD I want to buy simply to be able to hear the excellent 5.1 mix that the movie had. Ofcourse such a DVD does not exist thus I am still waiting. The only DVD of Kaante I have seen is the crap put out by T-Series which is not only one of the worst DVDs ever in terms of audio/video but it also had commercials inserted during the film.

Yup. According to Dolby, the film was released in Dolby Digital 5.1. Too bad the print is now missing :(

is there even a point to ask to post screenshots of the TTE version? i'm asking because jahangir79 states that pq seems good...now by good it could mean better than T-Series which we've established as anything but T-Series is better than T-Series...or it's better than Kria. just wondering. thanks.

the pq seems acceptable to me but it is non-anamorphic. However the sound is fantastic esp during the opening credits - lots of panning sounds and during the shootout.

however i wouldnt recommed the TTE as a purchase simply cos its nonanamorphic and has a useless disk 2

PAL R4 also had 2.0 sound didn't it? But that had the video in 1.85 anamorphic frame (2.35:1 video stretched, no cropping) - this German video is PAL & 2.0 and maintain it's proper ratio without an odd job patch job of the R4 DVD

I thought the movie was awful.

You're better off watching the original film City on Fire (Chow Yun Fat) or playing the new GTA4 game!!!

City On Fire was the 'inspiration' for Reservoir Dogs.

kaante is based on reservoir dogs though...
city on fire and reservoir dogs are similar, but there are significant differences as well between the two.

Bottom line! Ironic, that film with such dynamics does not offer proper DD 5.1 track on any of these dvds. :(

T-series has pretty decent 5.1.
