Subtitles should be movable by the player.
Yes it should be. However, no blu-ray players could move subtitles unless this capability is encoded on to the disk software. To my knowledge 99.9% of blu-ray titles do not have this capability encoded on to BD software. Anybody can easily check this. None of the blu-ray titles that I have watched have this capability encoded on to the disk. So, if the title hardcode subtitles on to black bars (i.e. the raster image), they it cannot be moved out of the black bars since the blu-ray player firmware do not have the capability to move the subtitles.
In case of DVD, the TheaterTek software player and Samsung-ezyzoom players have the capability to move subtitle but to my knowledge no blu-ray players could do this unless it is encoded on to the BD software and again this function is not normally used on blu-ray titles.
Therefore, if the subtitles are placed on the black bars, CIH displays and zoomers will face a significant problem with subtitles - they will not be able to read subtitles.
Hey Babyy blu-ray got this right and the subtitles are placed on the bottom of the image rather than on the black bars. I haven't checked Saawariya yet.
