It's not straight forward taking screen shots from Blu-ray/HD-DVD - the capture button normally on Power-DVD is disabled when playing back Blu-ray or HD-DVD. Video streams are protected using HDCP. Most of the screen shots you see around the web are from rips that have either been re-encoded/re-muxed or captures fro HD-TV. I’m not sure if direct Blu-ray screen shots can be taken without ripping the protection from it first.

Thanks for this info I did not know that

So from what understand there will be NO copying of BluRay in any way but I think its stupid to disable Screen Shot takin because the Screen shots will promote BluRay's

It's debatable again weather screen shots will make a difference to people buying them. Terms of the sheer size of the uncompressed 1080p screen shots will be around 6mb (for .bmp, uncompressed), 4mb for png (compressed, unlossy) and about 1mb for jpeg (lossy, hi-quality). And no said Blu-ray can't be copied :o

@urbanlegend
Hey come on all we want are a few simple answers to:
1. Is the stupid Eros logo still superimposed throughout the film?
2. Does the BD have the forced commercials and promos?
3. Are the player controls disabled during the promos, commercials etc., like the Eros DVDs?

Thanks.

Has anyone seen the Bluray of Heyy Babyy? I'm curious if the subtitles are displayed on the movie itself or on the black bar below the image.

Thanks,

Raj...

since blu-ray does not have anamorphic transfers yet, I'd assume the subtitles would be below the bottom margin of the picture area and in the black bar...

Good question. I am also interested in this. In the Heyy Babyy DVD version, the subtitles are not on black bars. Hope this is the case for blu-ray. However, Om Shanti Om DVD has one line on black bars. In this case they might keep it as it is. :(

Are there any solutions to move subtitles out of black bars for blu-ray. TheaterTek s/w player does this nicely for DVDs. But haven't found a solution yet for BD. Hope Sony would give a solution for PS3 to move subtitles out of black bars.

Thanks for the responses. I don't believe non-anamorphic is the issue here; we just need the ability to move subtitles in Bluray, which is supposed to be a future software-enabled feature.

Apparently most of the blockbuster 2.35 movies already on Bluray and HD-DVD have subtitles either partially or fully on the bottom bar. Sucks in the meantime for people like me with 2.35 scope screens.

raj0321 - do you have a 16:9 TV or do you have a display that has an exact AR of 2.35:1?

My home theater has a 2.35:1 screen. Works great with Hollywood Blurays and HD-DVDs since most of those blockbusters are recorded in 2.35:1 to 2.40:1 format, so I get a really big, but incredible image, 118" wide while I'm sitting back at about 14' from the screen.

I recently upgraded from a 80" wide (92" diag) 16:9 screen that I had for eight years. It's like a night-and-day difference.

I've only watched one Hindi DVD recently where I had the subtitles on -- "Garam Masala" and I had to zoom in the image to get the subs on the screen. So here it was -- black bars on the side and top...

I watched the songs from "Don" and it looked incredible; "K3G" didn't look as good, but I loved the songs so the poor PQ was overlooked.

We need to work on the BD player manufacturers to allow us to move the subs -- I was told this was easily enabled with software so it shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks!

Does anyone own this on Blu-Ray? I guess not, after all, how difficult can it be to answer a few simple questions:
1. Is the stupid Eros logo still superimposed throughout the film?
2. Does the BD have the forced commercials and promos?
3. Are the player controls disabled during the promos, commercials etc., like the Eros DVDs?

Thanks.
