Hey All,
I am not as technical as some of you (Rana, Zoran, New Deep (sorry for those I missed)) but I will try to let you know what I can .. since my computer does not have blu ray I will try to take snaps via my digi cam for you and give as much detail possible.

Pics with a camera are pointless. Do you have a 1080p display/projector? And some Hollywood 1080p material? Just play both on your system and compare detail, compression, contrast, colors...

1080i is the input. The display is what? 720p? 1366*1024 or one the other crazy non video resolutions? Whatever it is you can still compare to other Blu Rays or HD-DVDs, if you have any.

GOT IT! :D

A huge improvement in my eyes over the DVD .. like I said I am no audio/video expert like you all .. If someone can tell me how I can tell if its 1080p on a PS3 I can let you know. The sound .. excellent! The colors and sharpness very good .. I do notice some motion blur at times but overall much better than DVD. I will try to get the data of the bit rates and all for you later when I have more time.

While it plays you push the info button on the remote (middle bridge, left button). You see codec, bit rate of image and sound displayed.

My PS3 remote doesnt have an INFO button .. I pressed Display and below is what I got:

Dolby Digital: 5.1 48 kHz 640 kbps

VC-1 Bit Rate ranging from 6.5 - 36.1 Mbps

Hope this helps somewhat ..

VC-1 range is good. DD is ok. Lossless or DTS at 1.5 Mbit/s would be nicer but the difference is not big.

Anamorphic technology is used to squeeze 16x9 picture in to 4x3 DVD space. Blu-ray (HD) is already 16x9, hence anamorphic is not needed. However, it is possible to use anamorphic technology to squeeze 2.35:1 (scope) picture in to 16x9 HD space to more effectively use 16x9 pixel structure but I don't think this is done yet.
True -- but to play that, we'd need TVs that are either wider widescreen (2.35:1-ish rather than 16x9 in dimensions and/or a wider-widescreen mode in the regular 16x9 tvs that squeezes to a 2.35:1 frame.

Is the stupid Eros logo still superimposed throughout the film? Does the BD have the forced commercials and promos? Are the player controls disabled during the promos, commercials etc., like the Eros DVDs?
