This probably doesn't mean much at all for the format war, but I found this all pretty funny. It wouldn't surprise me that some HD DVD fans would "abuse" him, but I didn't think a studio would actually drop support for a format because they got "abused" by some posters on some forum!

http://formatwarcentral.com/index.php/2 ... -releases/
Quote:
Richard Casey of R&B Films (who have released Chronos and Nature’s Beauty on both HD formats) has announced that "we are excluding HD-DVD with respect to our future releases" in a forum posting on blu-ray.com.

Richard said that this decision was made prior to Warner’s decision announcement and he cited "experience with the HD-DVD audience and the abuse I took in the AVS Forum" as his motivation to drop HD DVD support.

Personally I am not surprised and look forward to discs that continue to push the limits from R&B Films.

I believe this was the thread at AVS where he was "abused:"
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=924286

And the thread at Blu-ray.com where he mentions dropping HD DVD (and why):

After the warner decision to go blu ray exclusive, I knew the Blu ray would win but I didn't thinkg that it would be this quick! It appears that HD DVD hardware is free falling!

Did HD-DVD ever end up supporting region coding? That could be why WB went for Blu-Ray. I read that HD-DVD didn't support region coding.

I think you maybe right..., its sad though - HD-DVD definitely seem more organized (and i liked the region-free aspect of things).

I have been format neutral (PS3 and XA2) for quite some time but somehow always wanted "HD-DVD" to win. Now all i wish is to get this “war” over which would make/tempt studios like criterion to start releasing their catalogue.

As much as I detested Saawariya – I will probably end up buying it more as a novelty (first bollywood Blu-ray!)
