I've just checked it's position in IMDB. Guess what? It's no longer in the IMDB top 250! What's going on?...it looks like they did urge fans to vote within a short period of time, however it was just not enough to keep it there for more than a few days. So tell me is this film so good that it even deserved to be in there? I'ts not the greatest film to come out of India is it?

I'll soon find out.

In itself it's a GOOD film, a damn neat movie

I've finally seen it and while I agree it's a very good film, it's by no means great and personally I don't believe it's the greatest Hindi movie ever. I don't think it deserved to be in the IMDB top 250, but that Aamir fans were fighting to get it in shows how unreliable that site is. It's no no longer in there, though they're still tying to get people to vote high to keep it in there.

I won't bother going into the positive comments of the film because it's been said already. My criticism are it was too long (at least 40 minutes should've been cut) some of the songs were too long (such as Aamir's intro song), there were too many songs, where a film like this only needed a few. Some of the emotional scenes were just too overdone for my taste, that I found it more annoying than moving, however I did see one or two females were cry during the film, so it must've worked on them.

I actually forgot about Aamir Khan in the first hour because the kid really held his own. I think a film like this would've been more aclaimed if it didn't rely too much on the "bollywood formula" that it was clear Aamir was trying to get away from, yet fell victim to. But that's what brings in the crowds. If it was like an independent/arthouse film it wouldn't have done well but may have been aclaimed internationally.

These criticisms aside, it's still one of the best Hindi movies of 2007, far better than Saawariya and OSO.

TZP is a movie I won't even try criticizing
Nothing's perfect, but TZP pluses far far outweigh its minuses (if any).

How is it unreliable? You realise that titles with few votes necessarily fluctuate till there are enough votes to stabilise the result? Also, the top 250 list is only compiled from regular voters which are presumably mostly non Indian. So it's typical for a good Indian film that the Indians vote early and push it up, then non Indians and Indian detractors respond and it comes down again. There are not enough Indian regular voters to push their films into the top 250 list. That won't change till an Indian film is so popular outside India too that many vote for it or much more Indians become regular voters and influence the top 250 list much more.

Finally got around to watching this at the weekend, and I loved it. It is by no means a flawless film, but it's well worth a watch. I'm glad Aamir Khan decided against stars for the roles of Ishaan's parents, it stopped the film from becoming overly commercial.

Looking forward to the DVD of this - hopefully UTV will release the UK/US DVD?
