There are a lot of scenes in movies that make you laugh, but which scenes or movies moved you emotionaly?

I'll start the list off.....

1) Mother India - when Nargis is scrambling around in the mud looking desperately for the nuts that her child Biju had spat out earlier. That was a very powerful movie, but that scene in particular was horrific in showing just what it was like to be desperately poor.

2) Black - When Ranis character phones her mother to say she has passed.

3) Devdas - when the doors slam shut on Paro as Devdas dies on the door step (yes I know a lot of people didn't like this film, but it is a sad ending).

4) Veer Zaara - the court room poem that is read out.

5) Maatchis - The final scene when Tabu visits her love in jail.

I can't believe you just ruined the ending of Sholay for me!!!!!!!

Going back to the topic, emotionally moving scenes:

1) Scenes between Jugal Hansraj and Shabana Azmi in Masoom
2) The climax of Saaheb
3) Most Akshay Kumar films move me to tears as well :P

At the ending of Dil Se.., I could barely breathe. I stayed through all the credits and remained seated as the lights went up. That film had a huge impact on me at the time, as an emerging cinephile (at the age of thirteen.)

Some runners-up: I find the ending of Monsoon Wedding extremely heartening and inspirational every time I revisit it, and I cried throughout The Namesake the first time I saw it. Love ya Mira.

There are many; here are two:

Lamhe (the emotional involvement was such that I did not want to see even the posters of any other movie, instead wanted to watch Lamhe again and again and again)

Black Hawk Down (this shook me up completely, totally)

- Salman listening to Bhumika reciting a poem to the end and claps

just finished watching this movie for the first time; pretty cool movie; very emotional
