Progressive DVD player: I made tests. The picture from the
Sony 7700 via Faroudja is better than from progressive
player via Faroudja. Faroudja is needed for quadrupling.
Better results require direct digital connection (SDI).
Faroudjas have no digital in so far.
16:9: CRT projectors are 4:3. Also I watch many old films.
16:9 is no option with current projector. Other projectors
are no option since picture quality is much worse.
Costs: no comment.
(But realistically speaking good home cinema costs between
20000$ and 200000$ or so depending on how high end you
want it. There are no cheap solutions with good quality.)
