Looking forward to this. Apparently it's inspired by the films of Satyajit Ray and the director saw it as his personal tribute to Ray's films. But looking at the promos I don't see the influence. :?

Have you seen the director's other films? They're pretty idiosyncratic. I'm thinking that it might be something like a Ray film on acid.

(The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is an amazing and weird film, if you're interested.)

Apparently I saw it a while back, but can't remember it, must've been distracted. I've borrowed it from a friend so will check it out soon. I've seen the Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore.

My local news critic rated it as 1/5 star! While he rated Namesake for 4/5

This will be released in UK on Friday being preceeded by the 13-minute short film Hotel Chavalier, which features a naked Natalie Portman. Which is far more appealing than a naked Ranbir Kapoor.

I saw the trailer of The Darjeeling Ltd the other day and it looks good, though similar in style to his other stuff. You can tell by the trailer it's a Wes Anderson film. This is gonna be Owen Wilson's first film released since his suicide attempt.

So did anyone else see this? I saw it and thought it to be very good. I found it much better than "The Life Aquatic". The music has been taken from Satyajit Ray's films and I could see the influence of Ray on this film, just as I did with "The Namesake". Irfan Khan also was in it and did well for his rather limited part.

If you like Wes Anderson's style, then definately check this one out.

Finally saw it today, in theater. It was an interesting film. You wanted to know what's going on and what'll happen next ?? I don't think I understood the film fully. Perhaps reading the story book or concentrating a bit more would help.

It's a typical Hollywood film with Hollywood values. Otherwise, I don't know what was the idea of casual sex while on spiritual journey ?? Also, I don't think it happens this way that a westerner invites an Indian girl for casual sex and she is more than eager ??

Mostly they were traveling in 1st class, so no typical train crowd scenes but there were a few scenes showing the Janta class crowd. They could have captured Mountains' scenery but instead they concentrated on desert. (Rajasthan Desert is thousands of miles away, but it doesn't matter for people who don't know)
Ifran Khan's role was short, as father of a child that the lead trio tried to save from drowning.

I was a bit late for the show and saw last 5-6 min of Part 1 of Darjeeling Ltd (Hotel Chevallier). The much talked about nude scene of Natalie Portman (Star Wars) was unclothed yes, but not really nude.

It's symbolic, for example the letting go of the luggage at the end of the film while running for the train means "letting go of all excess baggage in order to move on". The train symbolised the journey.

I don't know, but from what I gathered she had a boyfriend (who I thinks was the sikh guy or someone else who we didn't see) who physically abused her and that's why she wanted to get off the train. It basically showed she had problems so maybe she was using sex as a way to escape her problems, but I don't know, that's just a guess.

What do you mean? There was a close-up nude shot from behind, it think that qualifies as nudity, though not frontal nudity. Did you see it in India? They must've censored it then, like they censored The Namesake.
