Laaga Chunri Mein Daag and Bhool Bhulaiya both releasing day after tomorrow (Oct 12, 07).

Both films are showing in Toronto Silvercity, so can expect good DD sound there.

In Ottawa, it's only Laaga Chunri Mein Daag that's showing in a DD theatre Silvercity but Bhool Bhulaiya is showing at AMC where no DD avail.

I don't see Montreal show times listed as yet, but am sure both films will be screening there too.

Bhool Bhulaiya being a horror/ suspense element and good songs required a good DD sound, but we won't get it in Ottawa. Remember Partner, that I didn't like the audio at AMC but same songs came out rocking when I saw it at Silvercity Brampton.

Laaga Chunri Mein Daag, I hope has good aggressive surround and .1 effects. At least the trailer had it. Let's see if theatrical release audio matches the theatrical trailer audio ??

Bravo small town Ottawa over ten times bigger Montreal.

Bhool Bhulaiya getting all the praise at Indiafm review and LCMD thumbs down.

But, First Day First Show reactions are opposite to reviews.

LCMD Indiafm review:
http://www.indiafm.com/movies/review/13370/index.html
1.5 stars out of 5

Bhool Bhulaiya Indiafm review:
http://www.indiafm.com/movies/review/12977/index.html
3 stars out of 5

First Day First Show LCMD:
http://www.indiafm.com/broadband/video/ ... -Daag.html

First Day First Show Bhool Bulaiya:
http://www.indiafm.com/broadband/video/ ... aiyaa.html
----------------------

Despite bad reviews for LCMD, I still expect LCMD to better than Bhool Bhulaiya at Box Office, as it's YRF product. First Day First Show audience reaction already indicates that.

LCMD is stale ancient drama done over and over!

Well said by RAJA SEN @REDIFF:

Laaga Chunari Se Bhaag

Raja Sen | October 12, 2007 17:42 IST

Stereotypes wheel around the film at every turn, the first half working like a lavish, long soap episode (I doubt Ektaa Kapoor would bankroll such a hackneyed project, though) while the second, momentarily salvaged by Konkona's brightness, rushes hurriedly towards an ending so dreadfully convenient. Ah, we meet again, Pradeep Deus Ex Machina Sarkar.

Laaga is a painful film, trying to feel socially relevant but eventually turning a very simplistic eye towards an immensely serious basic issue. And for a director like Sarkar, fine with detailing and arranging his milieu, there are too many fundamental flaws, especially with the script.

At a point when the film actually comes to a head -- when Konkona is finally about to learn about her sister's Natashaism -- there is the desperate need for sharp, well-handled dialogue, for subtlety. What we get is a conversation between her and a hotel executive drowned out by muzak. It's a film too lazy to even try, and would rather focus on another tiresome song sequence.

Laaga Chunari Mein Daag takes us back to a kind of cinema we thought we were done with. Indian cinema threw off the dupatta just a little while ago; let's not shackle it back down.

Raja Sahab! does not like BUL BHULIYA too lol

What do you think rana sahab?

Forget this Bull Bulaiyaa

Raja Sen | October 12, 2007 12:56 IST

It's a bad film. It's boring, it's predictable, and any film that lists a red Rajpal Yadav and Akshay pulling up his dhoti while running as its extreme highlights, well, needs to be shunned.

I'm not even going to talk about the badly acted climax and the awful choice of actors therein; this film doesn't deserve analysis. Skip it.

1/5

**I'll watch again my Haunted Mansion on blueray!I guess!
I did not realize Chandramukhi was same film too! :?

Not quite.

Opening Box Office #s are all lop sided. Bhool Bhulaiya getting a bigger than expectd, 90% opening and LCMD a dismal 8 - 15%. Wow! Finally, even a Yashraj product no surity of a hit.

B.O. update: 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' opens big, 'L.C.M.D.' poor

The season of biggies has commenced! BHOOL BHULAIYAA, which teams Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar for the fourth time, opened to a fantastic 90% + response across the nation. The tremendous publicity campaign undertaken by its producers, Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, has yielded rich dividends.

Meanwhile, Yash Raj’s LAAGA CHUNARI MEIN DAAG has opened to a poor response of 8% - 15%. The film was expected to open in the mid-range [40% - 60%] and gather momentum with a strong word of mouth, but the audience feedback as well as the opening numbers are sad.

What else would you expect from superstars such as Abhishek Bachalan. Jokes apart, the figures seem quite on par for a Bachalan movie sans a Shahrukh and or other big star to prop up the film.

LAGA ISS DAGLAGI(TARNISHED)CHUNRI MAIN AAG lol!

BHUL BHULIYA is 7th grade copy starting from hollywood film, through various south indian films, preceeded by RAJNIKANT's CHANDRAMUKHI, that I just viewed!

for SOUTHERN VIEWERS it might be great ? but for me it was LUKE WARM.

FILM IS SLOW, pointless for most of time, with songs, crappola comedy etc, but last 1/2 hour is the entire story!

I believe SHOBHNA must be better in ORIG MALYALAM version? JYOTHIKA..not happening!

Amazing to see RAJNIKANT still in good form, he looks way better than AB and pretty close to SAROOK now

His style of action, plus Southern style of camera work, filming, SFX are too childishly ridiculous for my viewing!

Soundtrack, was decent with consistent tempo( was it Rehman?)

While bhoot bhuliya copied, tried to remake orig songs with todays hip hop/remix flavor added to album, in most songs while others do not fit with the overall temp, making it hotch potch cocktail.

But whatever, it is AKSHAY time! even he is in half the film, it will work!I would love to see Rajpal Yadav in TANTRIC role though!

I loved Chandramukhi!! Not the best film in the world, but I thought it was pretty entertaining. The music wasn't by Rehman, I think it might have been Vidyasagar. I can't bear to watch Bhool Bhulaiyaa..........it looks awful. Priyadarshan has lost it big time.

If you are a RAJNI fan, you would like it! It was not the worst of his films, but for his standard(?) might be pretty low though!

Film was extremely boring, till interval, and appeared typical southern family feud masala!

Priya for sure, has lost it for money like every one else! quick turn around bucks!

Saw Bhool Bhulaiya Yesterday (my comments were already posted) and Laaga Chunri Mein Daag today. After watching both films, realized that I need to add another option for the poll question, for equally good, equally bad. Done.

After reading all the bads reviews, did not expect much from the film but I really liked it. Specially the first 40 min where they show the normal poverty, desperation and family infighting (for inheritance) in Indian villages. After that it's normal YRF glamour project. But, it's a tear jerker for sure.

The theater I saw in, is a DD theater and it sure had surround audio at times plus tons of bass. Assuming Bhool Bhulaiya was in a similar theatre, I rate both films about the same (good). They are different genre. Bhool Bhulaiya being a thriller with plenty of comedy and LCMD a social tear jerker.

LCMD is mainly Rani Mukherjee and Konkana film. Abhishek and Kunaal are in almost like guest appearance roles. I didn't know, Hema Malini was in guest appearance too. And, Kamini Kaushal (grandma) after a gap of 5 - 6 yrs.

Film Length: 3832 meters (2 hr 20 min).
(Not sure whether it had a DTS track ?? as I came out just before the end of end credits)

Oops, as I altered the poll question response, the earlier poll response disappeared. That response was for "Bhool Bhulaiya (Did not watch it yet but will watch it before the other film )".
Whoever voted for that, I guess has a new vote now. Pl re-vote. Thanks.

Contrary to Boxoffice reports from India that Bhool Bhulaiya going full blast (90% collections)and LCMD a big flop (10-40% collections), In Ottawa it was other way around. Bhool Bhulaiya show that I saw on Saturday 3:10 PM, had barely 8-10 viewers and LCMD on Sunday 3:35 PM, was practically House Full (no 2 seats together avail except for very front rows).
