I wish they market on international market, all titles, so if bad quality or gimmick, they should be easily returnable! Title list is decent but what comes out as a product might be :shock:

Concerning this new system I want to see capacity and bit rates for the announced disks. I suspect it starts with DVD bandwidth for now, and probably 720p instead of 1080p. VC1 720p at 9 Mbit/s can look nice.
Concerning DCH, the cancelled order was for the DVD which is delayed but not cancelled. The HD was never offered for order so far. The HD is planned to be released in 2008, most likely as 50 GB BR disk with BD+ protection and 2 lossless soundtracks (Hindi and German).

Maybe by then hardware manufacturers might have grasped what BD+ is and how to make it work;

The screen you get if your Blu-ray player doesn't comply with the BD+ standards - as seen with The Day After Tomorrow and Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer Blu-ray discs on the Samsung BD-P1200 (the discs apparently works on the first gen Samsung BD-P1000 player after a long delay but not the second gen BD-P1200 player :lol: )

Yeah, it helps to wait a bit before releasing BD+ discs. Better debugged in 2008. :D

An interview with Farhan Akhtar
Quote:
Dil Chahta Hai is getting digitalized. What's the difference between the original and the digital version of Dil Chahta Hai?

The original version was a straight transfer of the negative to make a DVD, where as the latest thing is that we have recently done a high definition transfer, by which we have cleaned the entire print on a Digital Intermediate (DI). So, now, the resultant picture is a lot cleaner without any marks, scratches or dust. We have also redone the picture, remastered the sound as per today's available technology. So, it's just a fresher picture and sound.

So, does that mean that all the films from the Excel stable will be digital?

Subsequently, after Dil Chahta Hai, Don, Lakshya and Honeymoon Travels were on digital process. We could not do Dil Chahta Hai on a digital, coz' this technology was not available then.

Whose idea was it to revive this film through digital prints?

All the negatives have a certain shelf life. So, when the negative is kept in the lab, even under the best of conditions, there will be a certain effect of aging on the negative. So, the best way to preserve your film in its best form is to be able to do it digitally. And since Dil Chahta Hai is a very precious film for all of us, we thought of doing it the digital way, coz' if we ever need the film even 50 -75 years down the line,

we will have the film then, with high standards.

The digitalized version is getting released in Germany.

As of now, it's being released only in the German language in Germany. And when the re-release of Dil Chahta Hai DVD happens overseas as well as in India, we will be releasing the high-definition version of the same.

Wasnt Transformers suppose to give a blow to BD? :? BD still came out the winner that week (51% BD vs 49% HD) with the Disney 2 for 1 Blu Ray Sale plus various other hits (Hollow Man / Masters of Horror: Volumes 1 & 2 etc).

Next week with Cars and Ratatouille coming out .. people will realize that their HD players cannot play them so guess what .. Walmart/Best Buy get ready for returns :lol:
