And the first Bollywood film on HD disc is...

(there are no 40 million BR players in the world. Not for some time.)

Oh dear. An Eros BR disc, and an awful film as well. Not a good start for Hindi HD discs.

Excel Home Videos "assisted" in this, so maybe we can expect good quality :-)

Could you please shed some more light on the how and why to this. What is the source of your info? Thanks.

PS: Where in India are you located? Just curious to know.

I work in New Delhi in a software company. I visit hometown Patiala on weekends.

Since Excel Home Videos indicated that they would want to do Lagaan on BR, I've been keeping in touch with them. When I informed them that Heyy Baby was being released on BR, they replied that they'd acted in advisory capacity to Sajid Khan, recommending to him the best Blu-ray authoring facility...

History in the making. Eros will make the worst Blu-Ray DVD ever known, with a video interlaced master transferred by some amateur to BR. A crappy movie too, but it made tons of cash.

Keeping fingers crossed that this does not happen and that the BR will be something to be proud of to as much extent as possible :-)

Thanks for the reply. I presume by software you mean computer software, right? Anyhow I was wondering if you had a Blu-Ray player, I recently got a PS3 from the US and have 3 games and 6 Blu-Ray movies. Since I live in Gurgaon, which is a suburb of New Delhi (for those that may not know), I was hoping to find others in the area who might have a similar interest in Home Theater.

Yep - computer software :-)

I do have a full-fledged home theater setup at Patiala but DVD-only -- no Blu Ray so far. I am keeping a close watch on how HD technology plays out and also on glitches etc so that I can make a well-informed buy decision... I hope to seek your advise too...

As a blu-ray enthusiast, you may find the following article interesting http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=65802

That was a DVD only. There were no HD-DVDs offered anywhere of DCH. The DVD is still coming. It's only delayed. The HD is not coming this year. Expect it 2008. Likely on Blue Ray 50GB disc. With BD+.

Excel clarified that they acted in advisory capacity to Sajid Khan, suggesting/recommending to him the best Blu-Ray authors...
