it can't possibly be that bad, could it? or is there some sort of bias against this film to begin with?

It actually is bad, plain and simple. No bias against the movie.
Watch it without comparison to the original, and you'll see a half-baked amateurish B-grade effort.
Watch it in comparison to the original, and you'll grieve.

And no, don't expect any miracle in the theatres a couple of weeks down the line, like what happened for the original.

I am a hopeless lover of the medium and find it extremely difficult to criticize any movie - you can see from my earlier post that I even went to watch it yesterday - but RGV has betrayed me and several like me.

I just watched AAG, and I don't know what to say.

As a remake, it's probably the biggest embarrassment in the history of cinema.
As a film in its own right, it's probably amongst the 10 crappiest ever.

It's out of its depth and is truly Ram Gopal Verma Ki SHALLOW

Saving grace? The Mehbooba number which is picturized and presented very well.

Biggest irritants:
1. Everything is so rushed -- even then the length seems intolerably long.
2. Amitabh's pure white teeth don't gel with his getup -- yes, he's hammed to glory and is more of a caricature.

Guys, this is not a Sholay remake or even a copy -- It's actually a parody.

No, it's not a metro-take on the great movie, it's a "chawl" version -- there's simply no sense of scope and scape.

The movie shocks for all the wrong reasons. What trash!
Even Duplicate Sholay was better. Even Anil-Jackie's Andar Bahar was more entertaining.

Your brother's actually lucky ;-)

He tries hard to appear menacing -- he tries to be a villain -- but all the time he's simply a pathetic caricature.

The "Darna" series is not only atrocious, but it seems to get worse with every entry. Yeah... bring on the third one — .

I, one of Amitabh Bachchan's most ardent fans, asks if Taran Adarsh has ever had anything but praise for one of Amitabh's performances. I swear, Adarsh must be (or must wish he were) in bed with all the celebrities.

(I'll probably appreciate Bachchan's performance in Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, as well, when I see it, but I'm allowed to have a skewed perspective, as no one's paying to hear my opinion.)

Ripped from Indiafm:

The pirated master print of Ram Gopal Verma Ki Aag sold for a record low of Rs 50,000. In comparison, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Chak De India sold for Rs 10 lakh. Then again, Heyy Babyy went for Rs 6 lakh and Victoria No 203 for Rs 1 lakh.

Shakeel Ahmed, a dealer in pirated film prints, says, “The disastrous reports sent the bid for the film’s master print tumbling from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 50,000.

The …Aag DVD will have two other movies in it, so the sales don’t suffer because of the poor demand for the film.”

Added M M Satish, president of the Anti Piracy Cell for T Series, who have the audio and video rights to the film, “We have received some tips and have laid traps across the country. No matter how the film fares, we will curb piracy and seize the master prints.”

This is the most reliable feedback on the movie.

Does anyone know anything about Ram Gopal Verma Ki Mughal-E-Azam where he's also bringing in Birbal?

I thought Darwaza Bandh Rakho was rgv's worse ever movie. So many panning this movie, it appears Aag is at the bottom of the barrel of rotten apples. His next movie is - that’s right folks - none other than an innovative BHOOT haunt story (lol) - previews looks a pile of feces.

RGV's Aag bombs
Despite the hype and hoopla since its launch, Ram Gopal Varma's version of Sholay, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag finds no takers, with opening shows all over drawing about 12 to 15 people!

Anant Mahadevan's Victoria No 203 -- a remake of producer Kamal Sadanah's father, Brij's film of same name -- is another failed attempt.

Pooja Bhatt's Dhokha -- a film about terrorism, alienation of a minority community and police injustice sans entertainment -- has not been able to make a mark at the box office.

Trade pundit Vinod Mirani tells us the fate of these films.

Note: Films are ranked according to their release dates. The thumbs ups and downs reflect rediff's views.

after watching AAG, my suggestion for Ramesh Sippy Ki Satya:

just in case RGV has copyrighted Satya: here are the alternatives:

title: instead of Satya it can be Ghatiya

characters: Bhiku Mhatre can be Rinku Phatre and Kallu Mama can be Lallu Chacha

last of all: AB's performance in AAG ----- in one word ---- terrible (no offence)
