Kino Video has released this for HOLLYWOOD as THE CHESS PLAYER , possibly same transfer as shemaroo

theres a new shatranj ke khiladi dvd coming out on june 25th 2007 by aftifical eye - should be good quality.

Saw Shatranj Ke Khiladi broadcast on French language TV last week. It was in Hindi/ Urdu with French sub-titles.

The print was excellent, a lot better than screen shots, posted in this thread, from Shemaroo & Kino. Perhaps it was from "Artificial Eye" source ?? For some reason, due to Aspect ratio capture & it's display for 16:9/ 4:3, the picture had a thick black border on all four sides. I'm not sure if it was PAL to NTSC converted or orig NTSC telecine. Even if it was PAL to NTSC and despite thick black border on all 4 sides, still it was the same PQ as normal Hollywood film broadcasts.
