I have a Samsung LCD that I bought last year (Click Here) and its 1080i. Am I missing anything with the PS3? Will I notice a huge difference if I compared a 1080i vs 1080p TV (not that I am going to buy a new TV because of the PS3)?

If your TV has 1080p panel 1080i input is fine. If it's less than 1080p 1080i is fine too but you will not see full detail of source. 1080p input will only be better if your TV can not do proper inverse 2:3 pulldown on 1080i signal and your player can with 1080p output.

Where did you find that arsh bhai? I was hoping the Chinese stay out of the HD business. Well atleast for a few years until the format is well established as was the case with DVD.

why stay out?

I'm hoping the Chinese and Pakistanis copy the hell out of these formats!
the formats wont flop due to piracy theres too much invested in them for them to. At best it cause the price of real movies to come down even.

What for? The usual audience of these pirates could not care less if they get HD or DVD or VCD as they see and appreciate no difference.
I hope all prirates die a sudden death and their shops are blown to bits.

It is all over the net!! Walmart has done deal for multi million players under their brand names.

As far software is considered, no doubt, china/pak are on forefront of piracy, but it did not drive hollywood dvds quality down

On the other end GREED prevailed in Bollywood dvd makers who kept on reducing quality on their already abysmal products to a level, where it became a curse to spend $25/pot on those pieces of trash.

I am not talking about films here, Bollywood 99.9% are trash, Hollywood at least 50-75% imho., your percentge might be different from mine.

Imho, reducing CD prices from $10 to $3-$5, imho, was good idea, putting those mostly crappy music cds in your orig buying range.

If Bollywood dvds adopt a simillar price reduction strategy reflecting their quality then $5 or below is the best compensation for those.

I am very nervous to see $99 china man hd dvd player, playing $5 HD DVD with 1000 films/disc VHS quality, making people happy for what they can own for $5

But the stories doing the rounds on the web claim it is cheapo, Chinese HD-DVD players that Walmart has ordered, whereas your picture shows a Blu-Ray player.

I don't want cheaper prices, rather I wish for top quality reasonably priced Blu-Ray movies and the Chinese manufacturers along with the piraters will only insure that HIndi movies get VHS transfers on Blu-Ray with the likes of Moser Baer selling Hindi films for Rs 35/- on absolutely crap quality Blu-Ray discs.

I am not talking about cheapo BR/HD DVDS, I am talking about abysmal quality orig SD DVD from GOOD OL INDIA

HD DVDS and BR in INDIAN hands give me shivers.

There might be optimistic ones out there, they use HD masters, some times, fields are off, other times, colors are bleeding, and if not they are filtered colors...what else would you like us to be fed in name of proper progressively coded dvds lol
 It is mockery of dvd authoring in incompetent hands where you hire a butcher in his free time to author dvds man :x
