Ali, no! :? Apocalypto is, besides Fanaa, the worst thing I've seen all year.

Volver deserves the prize here.

From that list, I've only seen Apolcaypto, Pan's Labyrinth and Volver. My favourite out of the three is Pan's Labyrinth.

There's nothing special about Apocalypto IMO. It's entertaining in a dumb action movie kinda way but that's it.

I really need to order RANG DE BASANTI.

I'm a huge Verhoeven fan so can't wait to watch Black Book.

Volver was smart as well.

RANG DE BASANTI (PAINT IT YELLOW)

Someone ought to teach these guys in Bollywood that the color Basanti is not Yellow, but rather it is Saffron.

Sorry for going off topic here but I could not help myself since whenever I see the title it bothers me that they cannot even get such a simple thing right. Specially considering that Saffron is the color in the Indian National Flag and not Yellow or for that matter Orange.

Not seen Black Book, Volver or Pan's Labyrinth although the later two are definitely on mine ever growing ‘to-watch’ list :o

Apocalypto, well what I can say I loved the over the top gory violence. For what it is, it's a very well made action film, I enjoyed it. Fanaa on the other hand was poor; still curse myself now and again for wasting my time on it.

Rang De Basanti was meant to be filmed in 2 versions.

Obviously the Hindi version as well as a English Language version, which was meant to be called Paint It Yellow, but I think somewhere along the line, they scrapped the idea, and concentrated on just one version

Rang De Basanti was quite good, but not great, it doesn't deserve to win. Out of all the Nominees, Pan's Labyrinth and Volver deserve to win. I haven't seen Black Book yet and Apocalypto was good, but not good enough.

The point is that even if they were to have made an English version it ought to have been called 'Paint It Saffron' rather than 'Paint It Yellow'. Calling it Yellow instead of Saffron takes away the very essence of what the title is supposed to imply, ie. National pride.

Pan's Labyrinth was my favorite film of 2006, it really deserves to win! Rang De Basanti was a dull film, whose themes didn't appeal to me. I can't see this winning, and was shock to see this nominated. Much better Indian films have been released.
