I remember the Asoka team stating that this was a 5-hour movie but they had to cut it down for theatrical viability.

- How long is the METRODOME version?
- I believe Ultra have released this in India -- I think that's the same length as theatrical.
- There's a version by "First Look" - any idea abt this? The site says "director's cut." http://global.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.as ... 004362981/
- What other versions/brands are avilable?

i think the usa one has cut some songs or something, and the 5 hour movie was only shown to my knowledge on the star plus channel, i remember seeing it just a few weeks ago right after nach baliye 2 around 2 a.m. they cut it to 7 one hour episodes they showed 2 episodes every friday and sat there was nothing much missing it was boring stuff that i bet would have been edited anyway even if they had time to put it in, it was mostly extended scene and extended songs

Are Prism Leisure and Metrodome versions the same?

Metrodome -- Releasing (or re-releasing?) 24-Sep-07 http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asoka-Kareena-K ... 741&sr=1-2

Prism Leisure -- http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asoka-Shahrukh- ... 741&sr=1-1

I'm pretty sure they are. The version that I have has logos of both, I think Prism Leisure on the front of the cover and Metrodome on the back. I will double check and let you know.

Edit: Yes it's Prism Leisure. On the back, bottom right, it has the Metrodome logo, and Prism Leisure logo on the bottom left.

Expected to see a historical film on life of Asoka- ha ha, it turned out to be an amateur half baked bad soapy drama love story with some good action sword fights and Shahrukh pimpin after kareena in forests and underwater. kareena gave no substance to the film other than to wiggle her body around trees and swim in water like dolphin. Director did not build the story logically about an important Indian warrior who became peaceful adherent of Buddhism. film could have been better if presented as documentary style movie for educational purposes and used less song props. Overall huge disappointment

Jadoo I felt the same way about the film. Very dumbed down version. It should not have been presented as the usual Bollywood masala stuff. Hopefully someone will one day make a good film on Ashoka.

newdeep!I still feel, that despite all set backs, heavy cons, excellent metrodome r2 dvd, and filming style/camera work makes it for me!

also check out this 2-disc german edition from KSM GmbH
http://www.amazon.de/Asoka-2-DVDs-Shahr ... 7&sr=1-141

which appears to be different from another 2-disc version from KSM GmbH, titled "Asoka The Great" http://www.amazon.de/Asoka-Great-Specia ... 9&sr=1-266

All international releases of Asoka, including the German versions, are taken from the same PAL source as the UK Metrodome DVD.

Using babelfish, I translated the 2 pages from amazon.de featuring the 2 separate 2-disc dvds from KSM -- it appears that the sources are different. The runtime too appears to be different.
