Fact is, Salman Khan can't act to save his life. Akshay Kumar is the only saving grace of the film and keep in mind I am not a Akshay fan at all. The music is crap and the movie is worse. Even the one song that sounded good in the promos, 'mujhko maloom hai' is actually crap when you hear the whole song, just that one line has a melodious tune. As for Preity Zinta, she looks stale and I am sure I am not the only one sick of watching her play the same types of roles. I say go watch Don, in fact watch it a second time if you really have to see something rather than this crap.

 u got it too!! BTW!! listening to music, I stand by my opinion, as posted earlier these are most pathetic lyrics from Gulzar, till today imho! am a big Gulzar fan!! It is unfortunate that Gulzar to bhi commercial saanp ne dass liya :(

I insist of Umrao Jaan being most balanced album of the year! I could not believe it is same Javed Akhtar who wrote pathetic Don songs!

JAANEMAN vs DON:

Looks like tables are turning now. Even the critics that thrashed the film initially (and Box Office figures that reported 90% opening for DON and a meagre 40% opening for JAANEMAN) are giving very positive comments and mentioning "House Full shows:

Akshay Kumar's laughter is a national rage
By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 27, 2006 - 02:26 IST
Jaan-E-Mann has left its audiences spellbound. Not only are the audiences loving the movie, but are watching it over and over again. Everything about the movie seems perfect, be it Salman’s emotional act or Preity’s fashion sense or Anupam Kher’s comic timing. But it is Akshay’s laughter that is catching the eye of one and all.

Akshay’s laughter is creating ripples all over India as people love the way he laughs in the film. Akshay has played the nerd to the T. His portrayal is perfect as it has succeeded in drawing crowds to full houses in cinema halls. Salman too is revelation in the film. Probably one of Salman’s best roles of his career! Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar compliment each other in two contrasting roles so perfectly, that you just sit and enjoy the movie in the awe of the two stars.

Well, with the kind of response and audience feedback the movie is getting, it is now right to say that Jaan-E-Mann is one of the better made films of the year. And if in case you have not seen the movie, we recommend you to watch this one NOW.

Jaan-e-Mann picks tremendously post Eid
By IndiaFM News Bureau, October 28, 2006 - 05:11 IST

Jaan-E-Mann has hit back strongly. As expected, post Eid the collections of Jaan-E-Mann have gone up. The advance booking report for the second week are very positive. Well Jaan-E-Mann was steady all this week till Eid but post Eid it is a completely different story. Jaan-E-Mann can safely be declared as a hit now.

Akshay Kumar feels that Jaan-E-Mann is amongst his best works ever. “ Jaan-E-Mann will take Indian cinema to a completely different level” says Akshay Kumar. He also says “Salman and I made you laugh in Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and this time in Jaan-E-Mann will make you cry”.

Sajid Nadiadwala feels that this movie will entertain as this movie is targeted on the family audience. It is the story of relationships with strong emotional values. It is not a movie on divorces or extra-marital affairs as is the current trend. It is not stereotypical. And yes the families have responded well. The collections of Jaan-E-Mann are astonishing. It has collected huge revenues from just the Mumbai territory. The revenues worldwide are phenomenal too.

Jaan-E-Mann has found a lot of favor from the audiences and the thing they liked the most about the movie is Akshay Kumar, his laughter, Salman Khan and Anupam Kher.

Well Jaan-E-Mann, the way it has picked up was expected but not so late. It is rarely seen that a movie picks up from the second week onwards. The advance booking at cinema halls are packed. Jaan-E-Mann definitely deserves this. To substantiate our claims, there was a huge procession in Meerut amongst Salman fans who walked almost 5 kms to watch the movie. They gathered in hundreds.

The songs are the biggest USP of Jaan-E-Mann along with a concrete script. All these factors just add to why Jaan-E-Mann is beautiful. Go watch Jaan-E-Mann now.

Ok so maybe I am nuts, but i did not quite mind JAAN-E-MAN....i did think Gulzar had gone nuts when i heard the songs, but given the situations in the movie, I think I know where he was coming from.....JEM is very much a big screen movie, and if the sound is good then more the reason why you will enjoy it(maybe). One thing is for sure Shirish Kunder pulls off something a lot more experienced directors have not been able to do. This is a 'true' musical movie in that sense.....a bad cliched comparision but he does try to do a MOULIN ROUGE here.....and does manage to look credible.....in the end an analogy for the naysayers....suppose you were asked to tell the tale of the JACK 'N JILL rhyme(play along guys, just an example), there are many approaches you could take....short story, comic book, animation, song....whatever right? This is Kunder's way of telling a story that we all have heard before, but I do admire him for the way he has told it......absolutely there are scenes where the wire work can be seen(i am aghast, did no one tell him?), there are other problems too for example one could take offense at the dwarf jokes, but its still a tale told in the spirit of a musical....i would urge everyone here to read Baradwaj Rangan's review, nobody can say it better than him.........http://brangan.easyjournal.com/............alright, i am ready for the flame throwers now :-)

Vj, aarkyne ! U too guys  8) welcome to cliched clubs!

I have not seen the film, myself I admit!! But reading reviews and seeing previews I could see where reviewers are coming from, good or bad these kinda films dont get wasted any ways! MSKG, HDKG etc. This cant be worse!

I bet Farah khan's choreography will be worth seeing?

how was Preity? out dated? or still in form?

I always wonder how GUPT will look if REMADE with SAROOK and 2 nifty looker only babes? High tech sleek style and recycled music??
I loved that film the way it was? I did not mind hefty duo main, and Boby Deol either? May be Farhan Khan can play another LAME, but FRUITFUL game here!

Zeinta was wasted to a great extent...she is also beginnning to look a little overworked...the freshness from DCH is gone....i wish Kunder had cast someone else that takes care of herself and can actually move....more like waltz to the sweeping numbers....her movements and for that matter both Salman and Akki's movements were very Bollywoodesque.....nevertheless if Andrew Lloyd Webber were watching, here's some great material to actually convert to a Broadway/Westend musical.....the songs, the treatment etc. is much better than BOMBAY DREAMS....loved the picturisation of 'Kabool Kar Le', everyone and their neighbour pitches in to urge the lady having second thoughts to accept the proposal....there's so much joy and hope in that treatment....mark my words guys, Kunder if he does not chicken out and succumb to stupid formulaic things that people around him are bound to feed, will be a director to watch out for....he truly has a sense for the operatic....and for heaven's sake this is only his debut, but he makes a gigantic impact and to add to that he did not even come from a filmi family....a rank outsider such as he, deserves encouragement....thats mah 2 cents !!

And oh please do catch it on the big screen....whatever magic there is, will be lost when seen on a small screen.
