Thanks. That's enough information to tell me that the impression I had of this film before seeing it was spot on and that I'm absoloutely gonna hate this film with a passion! No doubt the masses who love crappy films are gonna make this a runaway hit. I'm gonna give this one a miss.

One friend I spoke to told me he felt so embarassed watching it, if it wasn't for his girlfriend with him he would've left. Apparently Amitabh and Shahrukh's overacting has reached legendary proportions in this film and it was like they were competing with each other for the biggest piece of ham they could get. No doubt this film is gonna sweep all the film industry awards. Is Bollywood the only industry that recognises overacting as an art that need to be mastered?

And here' Khalid Mohamed's review. Alas its a sellout :( Either KM's gone Adarsh's way ie become 'bikau' or in his quest to make films begun to forget the art of critiquing.....sad day indeed!

Sorry folks... this movie is the "CRAP of the Year".... that says it all...

If you want to show your kids some hot love making by Rani and SRK (that too in an extra marital affair), then please do take them to the theatre !

The film was 3 hr 14 min from start of main feature to end of credits (as always, in cineplexes here, no interval break).

Both "Dolby Digital Surround" (Shouldn't it be just DD ??) and DTS logos were in end credits.

Don, Dhoom2, "Kabul Express" and "Khosla Ka Ghosla" trailers had pleny of multichannel sounds. But, the main film was totally devoid of surrond/ side/ rear speaker sounds (it was front channel only). Sure, there was plenty of bass and sound was at high volume, but clear, that would fill the theatre but definitely there was no surrond.
Did anyone feel any side channels/ real channel sounds in KANK??

-------------------------

BTW, I do agree with all the negative reviews about KANK. Can't understand why would AB accept a charater like this, after Boom debacle which was not even half as bad.
This is one film where trimming/ cutting won't work. To salvage the film, 100% of the film length needs to be be cut. The four trailers I mentioned above are enough for (ticket) Paisa Vasool.

Just saw a report on Zee News that the movie has opened to a tepid response in India. I am so glad people see through it for what it is. Unfortunately though KJ will continue to make movies like KKKG & KKHH claiming that audiences did not get him when he tried to make movies that were close to his heart.......sigh....one can never win can one?

My review - yawn-fest ... I wish I didn't bother going to see it - money and time down the drain.

What's with all the KANK hate on this board? I for one, thought the film was fantastic and had a really good time. Excellent musical numbers, some hilarious moments, good dramatic moments. It was really a very enjoyable film and I'm sticking to my opinion! Sorry you guys all hated it.

Our disdain for the film is nothing compared to the "hate" directed by the film through its racist, sizist and homophobic attacks on various individuals. Most of its "hilarious moments", as you say, are achieved at the expense and humiliation of others. I don't find that particularly commendable - just sick and cheap.

i toally didnt like this movie ( yup u heared it from me who likes all karan johar movies and a big shah rukh fan) it was so boring i wished he stuck to his usal formula and better songs man what corny songs, only thing i liked was the don and dhoom 2 trailors and rana ours this time was in DD and it did sound like it was mostly coming from the front dhoom and don had better surround sound, even himesh and them hated it they felt like leaving during intermission but they didnt know the # they had to call to pick them up, i even felt like walking out i just stayed so i can take pics with them after the show, it was the longest 3hrs and 30min of my life, plus it was kinda embarissing watching this movie with your family like when the big b and rani had some bondage gear with them rani bondage part was funny but i tried to hold in my lol and act stupid that i dont know what all this stuff is, and to think i was waiting badly to see this movie since the day they announced it, next movie i am going to is munabhai 2 ( hope thats good)

Racist, sizist and homophobic? Wow, so tell us how you really felt about it! I didn't find the film offensive on that level...I felt that the execution was good natured and not meaning to offend at all. If you look at Hollywood films, a lot of them are far far less innocuous in terms of dealing with these subjects. I've seen many Bwood films that are far more offensive than this flick (Stereotypes? Just look at some of the other recent Bwood comedies including the ones that use disability for humor (ie. blindness, deafness, sexual preference etc.)). I just didn't see it at all in this film. Maybe you can say I didn't catch it but if I truly thought that if it was indeed offensive, I definitely would've reacted. I don't think that was Johar's intention at all and I didn't find any of the characters in lower esteem as a result.

In terms of the subject matter, it's definitely not a family film and should not be viewed as such. I know that it could be embarassing taking a family to it, but with advance warning, it should be geared to older audiences only. There's nothing wrong in doing more mature subject matter and we shouldn't expect that Johar would only execute a family-suitable film given the topic.
