I WANNA SEE MORE VARIETY CINEMAS BLACK COMEDYS LIKE Dil pe mat le yaar, more action, thriller, real love stoies with a sad ending, reality movies, movies about social issues and last but most important experimental cinema rather than sticking to the same old formula....but just as this was happening i think we have just taken five steps back with the recent spate of flops for such movie.....so here we go again maybe another 50 movies on the same lines as K3G coming soon to a cinema near year....definitely another 100 movies like Gadar coming soon and then another 100 movies like Main prem ki diwani hoon

although i hold high hopes and will probarbly enjoy Company, Aankhen, Paanch i think these films will flop just like all other decent movies have in recent times...

Hits next year...more love stories

Aap mujeh acje lagne lage
Mujhse dosti karoge
Main prem ki diwani hoon
Hann maine pyar kiya
na tum jano na hum
hum tumhare hain sanam

Man come on just the above titles sound so cliched who awaits the movies i certainly dont

Films I would include on the list;

Aks, Lajja, Moksha, Nayak, Abhay, Chandni Bar

... honourable mentions to Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar and Dil Chahta Hai (although this as more of a hit at the box-office too?!)

...still waiting too see Lagaan :0 and Asoka :doze:

just like to add that Asoka and Lajja were not flops...they were just not blockbusters. And oh yeah some people think DCH was a flop. Wake up!

Dil Chahta Hai!!! Dil Chahta Hai!!!!

this film doesn't deserve just "Average" to "Above Average" status at the box office, I'm quite suprised that the film wasn't a super-hit film at the b.o. If any film of 2001, that definitly didn't get well recognized at the b.o. its Dil Chahta Hai, IMO, its one of the most entertaining films in reccent times. Honorable mentions to Lajja, Asoka, Zubeidaa, and Aks

READ THE POST IT SAYS FLOPS AND AVERAGE MOVIES...........

DIL CHAHTA HAIN WAS AN ABOVBE AVERAGE
ASOKA AND LAJJA WERE LOSERS RATHER THAN AVERAGE MOVIES....ASOKA WAS SOLD AT 1 CRORE PER TERRITORY COMPARED TO 3-4 CRORE PER TERRITORY FOR INDIAN BUT THE MOVIE STILL DIDNT RECOVER ITS MONIES

ASOKA WAS A FLOP OVERSEAS TOO BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF PRINTS CIRCULATED AND MONEY SPENT ON MARKETING ESPECIALLY IN UK WHERE IT IS THE NO.1 GROSSER BUT STILL A FLOP BEACAUSE IT DID NOT RECOVER ITS MONIES SHAH RUK KHAN EXPECTED A CROSS OVER AUDIENCE FOR THE MOVIE WHICH DID NOT HAPPPEN

Only a couple of movies actually did 'good' business this year, therefore almost all the decent and good movies of the year end up in this list. What a shame.

1) Monsoon Wedding
2) Dil Chahta Hai
3) Asoka
4) Zubeida
5) Pyar Tune Kya Kiya
5) Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega
7) Tum Bin
8) Chori Chori Chupke Chupke
9) Abhay
10) Aks

Upon seeing this list, I can't help but be deeply saddened by the fact, that EIGHT of my top ten movies of the year have made it to the "flops and average movies I HAVE LUVD IN 2001" list.

Quote:
DIL CHAHTA HAIN WAS AN ABOVBE AVERAGE

That is not accurate. It only did above average in a couple of territories. In most territories and overall, the movie is at best considered an 'average to losing proposition'.

Two films on Sanjay's list reminded me that they should definitely get on the honourable mentions list; Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (not original but never the less well executed and entertaining) and Tum Bin (probably the best lovey dubby film of this year)
