The fact that the MP3s are out means that the CD is released, unless there is some other magic to get MP3s.

I downloaded mine using mIRC on #apna-movies.

The music is just great, too classy. The film story is a tragedy and I am wondering if that will have any effect on its music sales or even box-office success. I hope it works and that will pave way for more classic remakes.

Anyways, heard on rediff the music is sold to Universal for a whopping RS. 120 million... huge sum.

Been dying to hear some good music from Bollywood again after Lagaan - and finally here's something worthy of the place...a great soundtrack. The film will be better than the other Bhansali's films - simply cos the idiotic Salman isn't in it!:)

Just listened to Devdas! (courtesy Aryan)
Fantastic album and definitely the best of the year unless ar rahman comes out another zubeidaa or lagaan. But at least support one of the only good musicians in Hindi by buying his cds even if it is only cd you buy this year. Leave mp3s for Anu Malik's and Nadeem Shravan's uncool songs.

I just heard the album on MP3 (courtesy of Sknath) and the songs are the best heard since Lagaan! I will definatly buy the original CD later on in the week. I'm just glad after lacksture albums Devdas has put Bollywood back on the map for music excellence.

sknath,
Though it's not going to be Ismail Darbar for the next film, the Monty(Pyarelal's nephew) guy isn't half bad either going by the background score he composed. Strange how I though the album had a Vishal Bharadwaj(underrated music director, Maachis, Satya, Hu Tu Tu, Godmother) feel to it. Bhansali actually had sessions with him too before settling on Darbar.

Aryan if you listen to the music carefully u can get a feel for HDDCS in each and every song :-

Chalak Chalak sounds very similar ( mood wise) to Dheel de dheel de de re bhaiyya

Hamesha tumko Chaha sounds very similar (mood wise) to Hum Dil de chuke sanam

And yeah some sonds does sound like Vishaal-ish Type though I shouldnt be comparing apples and oranges as I must say ID and VB are two of the hottest music directors in Indian cinema today !

Don't forget Imail darbers "tera jadu chel gaya", some of the melody sound quite familiar to that soundtrack.

Yeah..the songs do resemble HDDCS - however, they are little more complicated and exquisitely orchestrated in Devdas. Anyway, apart from A.R. Rahman, Ismail Darbar and Vishal have always been my most admired too! I think I own all of Vishal's albums - except for the pre-Maachis days when he did films like "Fauji" I think.
