36 China Town 1 Its another case where the public endorses a film despite tremendous pressure from the media to bring it down. The film manages to do over 11 crore in first week and is set to become the highest grossing film ever from Mukta Arts. Best in Mumbai, Delhi/UP and Rajasthan.

36 China Town is a stupid film, and an inexplicable production,
it's mere merit being the fact that it's not grossly offensive.
A 'mystery' riddled with plotholes, bereft of any bright deduction.
Anyone suggests you watch this, you had best be apprehensive!

Rediff rating: One Star (Nominated For World's Worst Movies)

On the whole, 36 CHINA TOWN is high on hype, but low on substance. Disappointing!

Indiafm rating: 1.5 Stars

Wow, what the hell: No responses, nothing? Didn't anyone watch this movie? I just saw it: It was OK. I'd give it, overall, "6.5" out of "10." I went in (DVD rental) with no expectations, and was reasonably satisfied with what I saw. The "ending" is really rather clichéd (what's with the insanely obligatory "round-up" scene, anyway?), and the guy who plays "Rocky" is just about bearable, but, altogether, the film holds up well enough. The editing and direction are slick, and the performances are more than adequate. The songs are a bit superflous in quantity, but, for the most part, enjoyable. Unlike the asshole at PlanetBollywood.com who reviewed the movie, I'll not "spoil" who the killer is, but, again, I think that most people won't be too excited about the revelation. I liked that that film didn't take itself too seriously, and was actually successful in dealing with a murder-mystery in a tongue-in-cheek, humorous way. The approach to make a traditionally serious issue sometimes so near "slapstick" could have gone terribly wrong (as it did in the atrocious Jaago), but, here, the director(s) are argute at keeping things acceptably coherent. Again, overall, the film was nothing to scorn.

i saw it, to me it was ok, the only thing i really liked was the remix version of the ashaqui song
today they showed deleted scene of this movie on bollywood cutting on sahara one, and there were some scene they should have kept in the film, but sadly most of the deleted scene had a better print then the dvd itself

Really? The "Adlabs" DVD was more than OK; I has no problems with the transfer. That said, I think my particular disc did have a glitch: About four times during the film, everything just stopped — no "play," no "rewind," no "menu," no "stop," no "eject disc"...nothing. I was able to shut off the power to my DVD player, and, upon restarting the DVD, the scenes played past just fine. ...Weird... :?

Upen Patel: that was his name ("Rocky"). He was by far the worst performer of the film; I understand what his character was "supposed to be," but his portrayal, I feel, was slightly beyond obnoxious. I stomached him, but only barely.

This film looked pretentious and horrible. I didn't want to see it. Also I can't stand Kareena so maybe that's why I dismissed it. But I really got put off by their copying a quote from the poster of the US film Chinatown (1974) and using it to promote their film. Just how shameless can they get?
