HDKG Premiere at A1 theatre in Toronto Yesterday must have been a big event in Toronto Yesterday, but I wonder how many knew of it ?? I don't know how many were in the audience, but with the kind of attendances Canadian theatres get, I hope Akki wasn't discouraged.

http://www.indiafm.com/news/2006/04/13/6994/index.html

Though the Indian premiere of Humko Deewana Kar Gaye was cancelled because of Salman Khan’s imprisonment, the international premiere is very much happening.

International Distributor UTV is doing a special select media screening of the much awaited 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' on Thursday evening at The Empire Square 1 theatre in Toronto. Akshay Kumar (who is on his world tour in Canada at the moment) will be attending the screening with his friends and is likely to participate in a Q&A session with the local print media and television channels. So this makes Akshay Kumar the only member from the cast of the film to be a part of its premiere.

The film opens in the US on 14th, while in the UK, it is opening a day earlier, on the 13th.

HKDKG is releasing in A1 theatres in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa. But, how many, other than the distributor, know about Ottawa, Montral shows ?? What happens if after Toronto premiere, Akki shows up for Ottawa, Montreal shows and finds theatres empty, as not many would know about the shows for a day or two.

Just back from HDKG Silver City show.

Audio, Visuals were excellent. Excellent directional sound.

Out of the 3 films that we saw, HDKG tops by all six of us. A close 2nd is Shaadi Se Pehle at Albion non DD theatre. Actually, I think SSP will be tied with HDKG if SSP was at a theatre as good as Silver City. We did enjoy the third film Malamal Weekly too, but not as much as the other two. MMW is declared a Hit in India and the other two are struggling at the box office though.

For me, HDKG and theatre as good as Silver City, repeat viewing at least once is a must. May be another one if it stays for another week.

I wish I get a chance to see SSP at as good a theatre as this, but there is no chance of that.

Actually, it's a good news if reviews are bad. Then the film must be entertaining. And, it is.

Well, what more casn I say when I already mentioned that among 6 of us, ranging in age from 10 to 57, unanimously HDKG-Silver City combo rated best out of the current 3 hot films HDKG, SSP, MMW.

HDKG is better than Time pass. Good Masala film with great music, and even better additional music (annoying credited music director), excellent DD 5.1 with aggressive and directional surround, thumping bass, eye candy print and sweet heroine. Interesting plot too.

As far as, I'm concerned, it's worth watching 4-5 times in a span of 2-3 weeks provided it keeps playing at a theatre like Silver City.

Another reason to watch it in theatre: Looks like, it's DVD will be field averaged. It's TV commercials are PAL to NTSC converted field averaged.

One more reason to watch HDKG and other Indian films in theatre if plying in Odeon/ Famous Players theatres:

It's almost free.

Grocery stores are flooded with Breakfast Serial boxes; Serial Box costing $ 4.59 and ticket free, Sunday to Thursday.

Yep, there are some varieties where there is a coupon for Kids' admission and some varieties where it's Adult admission. Coupons are good till mid june (2 busy days per week excluded) for any feature that the participating theatre chain is showing.

Wow, I just saw this movie (Humko Deewana Kay Gaye), and let me say that it's utter, unbelievable trash; mind you, I went in with absolutely no expectations. About 45 minutes into the film, it became a chore to sit through it, and the feeling only escalated. With each disgustingly clichéd line and sickeningly predicatable "moment," I could feel my eyes rolling all into the back of my head, so just to find another place to look. The songs — some of them — might have been OK, but the film, per se, had not one redeeming aspect.

<sniff> <sniff> Do I smell a little bias — ? No offense, but I'm hardly a "Katrina-Kaif fan" (she's OK, but no reason to keep me in my seat), so the movie really did have nothing to offer me. 8)
