Man, I think it'd be awesome to walk into that theater to find that the whole "Daniel-Craig" thing was one big hoax, and that Sean Connery is back in the role of Bond! :-D

Bond director is arrested for selling sex - in a dress
From Chris Ayres in Los Angeles
IN A scandal to match Hugh Grant’s encounter with Divine Brown or George Michael’s lewd behaviour in a public lavatory, the director of the most recent James Bond film is facing charges of attempting to “perform an act of sex” on an undercover police officer — while dressed as a woman.

Lee Tamahori, who has a British mother and Maori father, directed Die Another Day, starring Pierce Brosnan, and xXx: State of the Union, in which Ice Cube appeared with Samuel L. Jackson.

Mr Tamahori, 56, could face up to six months in jail and a $1,000 (£567) fine.

The arrest of the Bond director in a seedy part of Hollywood brings back memories of Hugh Grant’s infamous encounter with a prostitute less than a mile from Mann’s Chinese Theatre — the best-known cinema complex in Los Angeles.

The 1995 incident ultimately failed to harm Grant’s career — and, in fact, may have helped him to lose the image of a bumbling Englishman. In Mr Tamahori’s case, however, the City of Los Angeles said that the New Zealander was the prostitute, not the client.

Police say that he was wearing an off-the-shoulder dress and black wig when he allegedly approached an undercover police officer and offered to perform sex for money.

The director, a gaunt figure with silver hair and thick black eyebrows — who often appears in public dressed entirely in black apart from a blood red tie — was arrested for soliciting an act of prostitution and loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, both misdemeanours. He has been ordered to appear in court on February 24.

Mr Tamahori, who began his career in the late 1970s as a commercial artist, was released on $2,000 bail. He has already hired Mark Geragos, the celebrity defence lawyer who unsuccessfully represented Winona Ryder on shoplifting charges and Scott Peterson, who was found guilty of killing his wife and unborn son.

Mr Geragos is a regular guest on CNN’s Larry King Live.

A spokesman for the City of Los Angeles said that police were running a “sting” operating when Mr Tamahori approached an officer, who was sitting in his car.

Mr Tamahori got his first break after directing Once Were Warriors in 1994, a depiction of urban Maori life that was hugely successful in New Zealand.

He later directed an episode of the hit television series The Sopranos in 2000 before making Die Another Day, in which Brosnan starred alongside the Oscar-winning Bond girl Halle Berry.

On the Internet Movie Database there is only one quote attributed to the Bond director. “Sex should not be in the movies and should be in the home,” he is credited as saying, “and violence should be in the movies and not in the home.”

PRIVATE PLEASURE - PUBLIC PAIN

April 2003 Ron Davies MP was found in a layby frequented by gay men. He said that he was looking for badgers

April 1998 George Michael was arrested while engaging in a lewd act in a public lavatory in Beverly Hills

June 1995 Hugh Grant was discovered by police receiving oral sex from Divine Brown in a car on Sunset Boulevard

October 1991 Sir Allan Green, Director of Public Prosecutions, was caught kerb crawling near King’s Cross station in London

January 1990 Marion Barry, the Mayor of Washington, was recorded by surveillance cameras smoking crack with his girlfriend

As in the case with 007, the game continues with picking the heroine! Seems Thandie is not quite settled in!

Bond Girl Search Still On
The Hollywood Reporter today confirmed long-running rumours that the production of the latest James Bond film was still lacking a Bond girl and major villain. As MI6 revealed last week, production kicked off slightly earlier than anticipated on Friday 27th January, and "lensed" on Monday 30th - despite the roles of Vesper Lynd and the principal villain still to be cast.

The article said, "although it isn't unprecedented for a studio to begin principal photography on a film with two major cast elements unsettled, it is unusual for a project of this budget and scope. However, a source familiar with the Martin Campbell-helmed production said scenes involving James Bond's love interest don't begin for more than a month, and the studio still has some breathing room before compromising the film's schedule."

"They're talking to three to four girls right now," Casino Royale scribe Paul Haggis said. "Every week I read there's a new Bond girl, and I call them and they say, No, you idiot."

According to THR, in recent days Rachel McAdams and Thandie Newton have emerged as possible Bond girls.

Newton was first rumoured a month ago, first for having screentested and the later as being "confirmed" by the tabloid press as having won the role. Clearly, that is not the case - at least not yet.

Canadian actress Rachel McAdams is a new name in the mix. The 29 year-old actress has had a string of hit movies recently, including "The Family Stone" (2005), "Red Eye" (2005), "Wedding Crashers" (2005), "The Notebook" (2004) and "Mean Girls" (2004). In December 2005, she was #1 on MuchMusic's "Who To Do: 20 Sexiest Girls" list, and yesterday came in #3 position in the daily IMDB poll "What gal would you send a Please Be Mine valentine to?".

Speaking recently, McAdams said, ""I want to try a lot of things that I haven't tried. You know, I did a thriller "Red Eye", because it was so different and it was a genre I hadn't worked in yet. Then I did a beautiful family ensemble drama. And next? I don't know. The quality of material is important, but, basically, I'm open to anything. I like to stay open to anything".

I was really disheartened to hear that they would be "re-booting" the "Bond" series, but, who knows: it might work wonders (the way Batman Begins did for the "Batman" film series). If, indeed, they do want to do this, I think it's only right to totally change the things associated with the "current Bond" (e.g., including getting rid of Pierce Brosnan as the lead). By the way, which is your (all of you) favorite entry in the series?

I think Goldfinger is the best. Sean Connery is the best James Bond, followed by Pierce Brosnan or Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, then George Lazenby. Each has his strengths (and each his weaknesses). Moonraker is one of the worst "Bond" films, and Thunderball is somewhat boring. I love The Man With The Golden Gun and Diamonds Are Forever; they're two of the most under-rated films in the series. Ummm...OK then. Bye.

I agree with the order of your choices! Connery is the best Bond ever! However, I cling to Lazenby for many reasons! I have read many of Fleming's novels long before I ever watched a Bond movie! The first I saw was OHMSS and felt akin to Lazenby! I wasn't overly impressed, but hey, at the time he seems larger than life!

My fav is Timothy Dalton followed by Brosnan (especially in Die Another Day). I'm sure we'll grow to like Craig too ;) Remember how unsuitable Brosnan looked as seen in Remington Steele?

I like On Her Majesty's Secret Service, but I felt that George Lazenby lacked too much charisma to be a likeable Bond. The films are very different from the films; so, while Timothy Dalton's "version" of the character is closest to Bond's "novel" counter-part, it doesn't really translate very well on screen (he's OK, but not great). I think, if EON intends (as they say they do) to "re-boot" the Bond series (as Batman Begins "re-booted" the Batman film series), then keeping Brosnan in the part would simply have been foolish. If you're going to "start all over," you don't want reminders of the "current" series. It would have been like casting George Clooney (let's imagine he did a good job) as Batman, in the new film. As far as the "current" James Bond is concerned, I don't think that Craig at all "looks the part," but, if a make-over of the whole damned thing is what's to happen, then I don't think I'm in any position to judge how Craig might do.

Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet has unveiled the first pictures of Daniel Craig as James Bond 007 filming the forthcoming movie "Casino Royale" today. Filming is currently taking place in the Bahamas

Rita, that shot has been available on the Internet for some time, now. His hair, by the way, is not black in that shot, but blond; the picture you've provided a link to, just happens to be a bit too dark. According to JamesBond007's publicity shots, Craig will, indeed, keep his blond hair in the new Bond venture.
