Paresh Rawal started off with serious baddie roles, then comic baddies, then character actor and pure comic roles... somewhat like Amitabh...

Just wanted to share that if you really want to see his best performance ever, watch his very first movie. It was not much of a success at the box office, but has memorable performances by both Jackie Shroff and Paresh Rawal.

The movie is

FALAK

Try the poll too... I voted Rehman.

Although both Ashok Kumar & Balraj Sahni are not on your list for me no other actor comes close to their calibre & talent as character actors of Golden era of Hindi cinema.

Thanks for your note...

I consciously tried to leave out people who started careers and had a run as main leads or comedians... I should have left Prem Nath out too... hmmm.

Utpal Dutt did some fine comedy in Golmaal, Naram Garam, Guddi, and many others. I also vote for Om Prakash. His role in Chupke Chupke was fantastic.

I agree. By the way have you seen Utpal Dutt as a villain... he was very sinister!

BTW, Jayant had a great screen presence too... and I'm sure most of you know, he was Amjad Khan's and Imtiaz Khan's father.

Pran seems to be the most favoured so far ;--)

There's this joke...

Pran and Amitabh are waiting at a bus-stop and Dharam who is passing by in his car, stops, and offers them a lift.

Now Pran readily takes the lift but Amitabh doesn't. Now matter how much the two convince him, Amitabh won't budge.

The question is - why...?

And the answer is

...

...

...

...

...

Because "Pran Jaaye Par Bachchan Naa Jaye."

LOL!
