Has anyone seen EROS release of Mere Sanam. How is the PQ??

I saw one by Appolo-SD version and that one is crap. It's from Video source and that too with abrupt/ incomplete sequences. Plus, the video itself was sourced originating from badly worn out film print.

IW has 3 versions listed. Appolo, EROS and Samraat. No chance that Samraat version will be any good, but EROS is a possibility. But, EROS and Appolo are shown with same cover.
At the time of EROS DEI split, most of the titles in their "Upcoming DVDs" flyer were of semi-decent quality. Like, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Teesri Manzil etc. Mere Sanam too was mentioned in it.

(Mere Sanam is not in Shemaroo.com listings either)
(BTW, Mere Sanam was made by Sippy Films of SHOLAY fame)

Any info ??
Is there any Indian release, like TNT, Elite, T-Series etc??

Mere Sanam claim to fame was it's comedy and tons of melodious songs. Including Mumtaz's "Yeh Reshmi Zulfon Ka Andhera Na Ghabraaiye,----"
Other songs I like even more.

I have the Samrat version of Mere Sanam and believe me you won't EVER want to go after this one. It's the worst DVD print I've ever seen in my life. Even a bad VHS print is better than this.

I saw the Eros version in my local Video store, I was surprised it took so long to get there since Eros DVD inlay cards from over five years ago listed Mere Sanam as an upcoming release. I did buy an Eros Old Songs DVD and one of the Mere Sanam songs was on there- the print was not that bad at all, puts the Samrat one to shame.

I've also got the UltraIndia VCD of Mere Sanam, pretty typical of most of Ultra's other releases. Eros version will probably be a lot better.

Thanks MadhuriDixitFan.
Good idea, to check PQ from Song DVD.
I had a few of EROS's Century Series song DVDs that could have had Metre Sanam songs; Lata-Asha, CenturyDhamaka, EkDujeKeLiye and GoldenHits and these didn't have Mere Sanam songs. (Did not check other EROS song DVDs that couldn't have Mere Sanam songs, like Madhuri, Lata, Rajesh Roshan etc)

MohdRafi songs in Century Series has 3 of Mere Sanam songs. Hopefully, I can get that on rental.

Film DVD should have better audio-video than Songs DVD as most Songs DVDs are normally compressed from the film DVD.

Picked up EROS Mere Sanam. Print is Video sourced, but a lot better than Appolo DVD. At least it's clean and no incomplete segments.
It's from clean video source and audio is OK too. (Video may have been made from old film print as evident from Tint settings. But, no scratches on the print. ) Much better than the VHS copy that was released in the 80s.

Total run time is 152 min. Can't say whether it's 4% speed shifted or not as its totally field averaged. Most likely it's complete version.

Now that PEN DVD is available, that certainly will be a lot better than earlier releases, time to revisit Mere Sanam run time:

Nov 15, 1975 CC on EROS DVD reads as 4598 or 4698 meters, indicating 168 min or 171 min run time. CC also indicates 17 reels; I think one reel is aprox 10 min implying around 170 min run time, so can't be 171 min so can assume 4598 meters as actual film length (168 min).

EROS DVD is 152 min and is 4% speed up (verified from frame repeat sequence), making it 158 min version. 10 min is definitely missing in EROS DVD. Some places, logical connection seems to be missing. Most noticeable is near the end, where Nazir Hussain orders his men to kidnap Asha Parekh for questioning. In the DVD, they just show Asha Parekh dumped to Nazir Hussain.

I checked with my VHS copy and that too is from the same print (1975 CC) while the film was released in 1965. VHS had no extra footage.

I have the Eros Mere Sanam. It shows pretty good. It is like Anmol Ghadi (Eros) until I got the Time copy and that was so much better.
