Why are all the Telugu DVDs so shoddy? I've seen only about 4 or 5, (one of which was good, from EVP), but most of them were bad. Looking at the covers of other Telugu DVDs, I can tell that the discs will be bad quality. The art design is VERY bad, and it looks like these are stored in JPEG format. It's one thing to see compression errors on a DVD, but it's another to see pixellation on the back cover!

And quite a few Telugu DVDs seem to be dubbed versions of Tamil films. Why are so many of these Telugu DVDs bad quality?

That's because 99.99% of telugu DVDs are made from copies of VHS tapes that have been recorded in theaters using a camcorder.

I know technically why they are bad. I want to know why only EVP has bothered to make good Telugu DVDs. Are Andhra people cheap or something?

Can any body confirm the source (Progressive of Interlaced) of EVP Telugu dvd’s. And what aspect ratio on their dvd’s, as I couldn’t find any information at all.

being a telugu person myself, i feel so frustrated about the quality of DVDs we have to live with. The reasons for low quality could be many. But I learned from some top telugu DVD distributors that the sales are too low for highly priced(19.99) quality DVDs from EVP whereas the low priced VHS type quality DVDs is much better.

Also, I hardly see any of my Telugu Dudes buying ANY dvds. But, when they come to my house most sure love to borrow them and never care to return until I ask them for them a dozen times. Worse, most like to rent VHS copy made from DVD as it costs a BUCK less than renting DVD and also you get to keep it with you longer.

So, I see no hopes of seeing quality TELUGU DVDs in this lifetime ???

Why not e-mail Ayngaran and ask them to do Telugu DVD's, as thier DVD of Bombay has been one of the most highest selling DVD's under thier label and that had a Telugu soundtrack, which contributed to sales.

Its all about marketing which reflect sales of DVD. EVP can't be bothered to do any of that.

The reason people do not buy telugu dvds is not because people are cheap but because the dvds are of crap quality.
Just look at bombay dvd sales. If they can produce consistently good dvds, people will buy them. I personally bought lots of original NTR movies made by KAD and NAT.
But now pirates are releasing old NTR movies with horrible picture quality and I stopped buying them. Now I just rent them.
