It was supposed to be terrified. BTW Laka Laka Laka Laka doesnt have any meaning in Tamil also. May be a Telugu world (mmm no), but it supposed to scare people and it did scare few people who are weak.

Interestingly CM was viewed in different centers as different movie

A Center (metros) - Split personality movie and Rajni is a doctor
B Center - Confusing. Initially they said its a ghost and finally they say its something happened in child hood. What the hell is happening
C center - Ghost movie. Rajni is a priest coming from USA

Net Net, A and C center have "clear" idea.

BTW speaking of terror... when I watched "The Ring" I got a phone call, and the next thing I did was to shut off the DVD, TV and go to bed. Ofcourse I didnt pickup the phone

"Laka Laka Laka Laka" - definetly acheived what it set out to do . i was doing it all day to my young padawans ( ok - the star wars fever has stuck me !)

I always thought it was funny when people said it was a "ghost" film - now i am getting the feeling that people did not watch the movie at all - they merely wanted to watch rajini in all his glory !

Speaking of "The Ring" - every person i have talked to associates the movie with a phone call he/she gets - funny how an urban legend is born :)

I said "Laka Laka Laka Laka" and she was frozen, thinking its "Chandarmukhi"

What about Indian Time Bomb DVDs that freeze even when we don't say "Laka Laka Laka Laka"??

BTW, in the theatre where I saw it in DTS, whenever "Laka Laka Laka Laka" was muttered, theatre filled with laughter.
Not knowing Tamil, I don't know whether it was supposed to terrify the audience or make them laugh??

lucky you saw it in DTS. i saw 2 channel surround. the audience also laughed, mainly at the plot of the film. the final 20 mins of the film was a laugh riot due to it's absurd plot. "Laka Laka" just added to it. It doesn't mean anything. I think they tried to make Rajni do something new for a change, you know like how he swings cigarettes. heh. anyway, that laka laka crap is also in the telugu soundtrack of this film.

I listened to that Raa Raa song many many times before I actually went to see the film, and one of my friends was so curious about what happens in the film when he says "Laka Laka Laka"
