Last week I bought myself a new toy, the Sony PSP! Still trying it out, so far it's awesome! Incidentally it came with Spiderman 2 in the new format UMD, it's impressive! , any chance that we will see Hindi releases in this format? Read below for specs!

" PSP has a 9.5 CM wide TFT screen that displays full color (16 million colors) on a 480 x 720 pixel hi-res screen. There are built-in stereo speakers, exterior headphone connector, USB 2.0, and 802.11b (Wi-Fi) where up to 16 PSP players can compete with each other over the Internet. For software and data, the PSP naturally uses the Sony Memory Stick Duo but it also uses a new compact, high-capacity optical disc called Universal Media Disc, or UMD as its storage medium.

UMD is 60mm in diameter but can store up to 1.8GB of digital data like music, movies and video clips. On a side note, watch for Much Music style music videos to become the file sharing/downloading rage this year. UMB uses a copyright protection system with 128 bit AES encryption keys for the media and individual ID for each PSP hardware unit. Translation: It’s going to be difficult to play illegally acquired software"

I spoiled myself and bought one on release date. Its a sexy gadget. Get a 1 GB or 2GB memory stick duo from SONY or sandisk and rip your favorite songs and scenes or even movies on to it and play it on the PSP. I can't see myself buying any UMD movies eventhough Spiderman 2 looks pretty sweet. I'd rather watch it in my home theater to get the full exprience.

I haven't had the time to try out all the features yet but loving every second of the game LUMINES. I can't get into metal gear even though i am a fan of the series. I recommend Ridge Racer and Wipeout pure for any racing fans.

I know it can't compare!, but for someone who is always on the go it sure beats lugging around my portable Apex player. Man the size of this thing is perfect and the 480 x 720 pixel hi-res screen is just awesome! I still haven't got the hang of the full potential of this thing yet, caution it's highly addictive!

The widescreen LCD was the biggest selling point for me. It's so sleek and sexy. 8)

Don't have to buy, you can rent and also the games! Although there isn't a wide choice at the moment, but hopefully as more people get hooked on this maybe we will see a wash of new releases! Like to see which Hindi Company will be the first to embrace this new format!

Indeed James I have to spend 2 arms and two legs for these!

No, you dont buy a new dvd, you rip your older to MP4 and watch on MEMORY STICK DUO!

But this products primary use is Gaming!! Thats where it excels and believe me that Spidey 2 UMD looks beautiful too!!

Occasional UMDS for under $10 might be OK!

There is rumour that sony might start download buisness or their titles might come as combo package too.. :?:
