Messers. Shapoorji Pallonji , the negative rights holder of ´Mughal-E-Azam´ , have transformed the K.Asif classic into a colour film at a phenomenal cost .

The negative of the black and white film , which was partly in colour , is being processed in France . The fully coloured print will be out soon.

Wow!! Just color or RESTORED too///?? ??? :sus:

Their last attempt in the 80s (VHS era) was a disaster. I have that VHS and the colors are hopeless.

Moreover, colored copies will be resisted by one and all, like in the past.

Coloring b&w films is an abomination. I will boycott
any such version and insist on the original.

Just got around to watching the film today, one word "EXCELLENT".

Would love to see the whole film in colour, but was wondering in what form the new print will be released i.e Cinema/DVD.

The Shameroo DVD was poor, but I forced myself to watch the print. :ffs: :bangbang:

Can anybody provide more information on the process of converting the black and white print to colour and give a time line of when it will be released. :hmm:

The list of Diwali releases keeps growing . The latest to enter the fray is the revamped version of the K . Asif classic ´Mughal-E-Azam´ .

It may come as a surprise to many but Sterling Investment Corporation reportedly has an offer of Rs. 1.5 crore for the re-issue distribution right of the colorized version of ´Mughal-E-Azam´ for Bombay circuit alone .

The epic love story is slowly but surely generating tremendous heat among distributors after the announcement of its release date (12th November) .

Fools or geniuses??

No problem recovering their huge investment of Rs 1.5 cr from Bombay, provided it was the restored print of the original classic in B&W. Colorization has not succeeded, critically or commercially, anywhere in the world so far. May be Indians are better than the rest of the world.

Watched the film for the first time this year and fell in love with it, but the current dvd quality is quite poor.

Would like to watch it on the big screen in colour, but any idea of when this new version will be released?

i would definitely wish the print to be better (sharper) than the shemaroo release.

whatever happened to the "Naya Daur", that is supposedly also going to be colored.
