So far watched 2/3 of movie, first half is BAKWAS! Diya mirza is terrible!! Man!!Salman khan has a hang over of HDJP, costumes..off and off!!!every 5 mtes he finds a reason to take it off!!!
second half looks interesting!! Sush looks and acts GRET! Indra KUMAR! is no GOOD! Salman fits better in this role, he exhibits better chemistry with SUSH!!
Verdict!!!DVD is lot better than FILM it self!!
i cant believe how do they STUPIDIZE a nice hollywood action flick!
Ur 2 cents needed! My overall verdict is ..THUMBS, one up and one DOWN, even with good dvd! i dont know what we will gain from DTS!! if done properly, even better sound? may be?

BTW!! sqish problem, i tried to adjust my tv by choosing natural wide, that makes it a bit more LONG!! so even it exists in this flick!! is very MINIMAL!!
Salma,s brother, new guy, acts better than many others!!

hey guys, I checked out the DEI disc today. Pretty decent anamorphic video with vibrant colours, decent detail and no artifacts.

No artifacts? That would be the first DEI DVD without
noise reduction artifacts. I bet there are as before.
Michel Hafner

Sorry Michel but I guess I missed the motion artifacts. What I originally meant was that there was no pixellization or any digital garbage appearing on screen. I think I'm referring to compression artifacts, right?

As for the motion artifacts, I've seen the complete film on DVD, and I watched the songs many time yet I still didn't notice the artifacts you guys mentioned. I guess they are there, but may need to be examined a little closely.

I still think that the video (and audio) quality is very good though. Much better than Eros releases.

Not bad! I don’t mind the 'squashed' video problem as it can be easily fixed by selecting a different widescreen mode on my TV, not to say that DEI shouldn’t fix it :ffs: all they need is good glasses :bangbang:

At least it's better than any thing else coming out recently.

Why can't Sandish or someone from DEI respond to the issue of 'squished picture' and atleast give their explanation for the problem and why they are unable to rectify it? Do they even admit to the existence of the problem?

I'm sure it is a silly technical problem...I have written lots of times to DEi but never got a single reply. They really do need to pull up their socks but I would'nt go as far to call them idiots...

Here's a transcript of two emails I got from Sandish @ DEI regarding this problem, way back on 3rd March 2001

"We have gotten some complaints about a couple of DVD's, namely Kudrat,
and it looks like now Khuddar. We have found the problem.

The very first DVD's that were released were new movies in the
anamorphic format....Krodh, KNPH, Jung etc.

Our colorist kept framing the old movies in the same fram as the new
ones....not knowing that some of these were 2.55 to 1. Even with his trained
eye, he couldnt tell. The problem for him was that there is no labeling, or
anything telling whether a film is 2.35 or 2.55. Even here, we wouldnt tell
that some of these anamorphic were 2.55.
So to rectify the situation, we have told him to first do the film in
2.55 if it is an older film, then 2.35, then make a judgement call whether
the film is 3.25 or 2.55...but in the meantime a few transfers have been done
where its too late, in which we will re-transfer later on. So, DEI makes
mistakes too...lol....i'll wait to here back from you....by the ways...the
percentage is 9% overstrech....2.55-2.35/2.55."

And a follow up when I asked which titles have been affected by this problem;

"Thanks for your reply, the titles affected by this problem are Kudrat,
Khuddar, Deewana, Nastik, and we have not recieved the Digi-Beta's for Sacha
Choota, Sadha Suhagan, and Jigar....out of these i dont know which ones are
full screen, and which ones widescreen.

After these titles, the problem has been rectified. Apparaently, the
reason there was no problem at the beggining was that all the first newer
movies we 2.35 aspect ratio, but i guess live and learn....tell your viewers
that DEI is sorry for this error, and it has been rectified.

But still to be honest, it is barely noticable, whereas i think the
average viewer will not even notice."

This was a day short a year go and the same problem still continues.

The reason why I keep badgering this issue is that it can easily can be fixed by any competent person and it’s making DEI look very amateurish, a year after the problem was brought to their attention and nothing been done about it. I would still prefer DEI did newer titles on DVD if the choice is between Eros, Video Sound and YRF. But when their quality is dropping with titles like Abhay and YDA, and their continuing blunders in this video framing problems, they are going to end up no better than Eros, VS and YRF.

I think these remarks pretty much conclude TNBP as a film!!

The storyline, heavily borrowed from both English and Hindi films like The Bourne Identity, The Assassins, Do Anjaane etc. is full of glitches. To cite just two; Vir’s bullet-riddled body is thrown into a river somewhere in the outskirts of Mumbai. It’s hard to believe that all those bullets didn’t kill him. Then instead of drowning in the river he is transported upstream to North India, presumably Rajasthan. The village folk though speak in quaint Bho-jpuri mixed with English and during the songs break into Punjabi, Gujju, Hindi and sometimes even speak in chaste Hindustani and Urdu.
