I need to rent Gaayam and Shiva. What about Anaga Anaga Oka Roju (I think that's right)? Was that good?

RGV Tends to keep making movies on a theme trying to improve them. Anaganaga oka roju was his attempt to improve on the Kshana Kshnam variant. By itself it was a good movie but did not have the star value.

Premkatha is also good in the first half - the first movie in whih RGV has a village backdrop

My personal top5 among his telugu movies are
Shiva
Kshana Kshanam
Gaayam
Raatri
Govinda Govinda

By the way Gaayam's story is by Manirathnam.

I am still looking for a old RGV interview where he claimed that Shiva was a movie which he may not be able to make again. (More to do with story and not technical flair)

He still has quite a few monolingual telugu movie fans in AP. Almost all movies directed by him are dubbed into telugu by himself

"No they were not"

Sure they were, the only major difference being the extra Neeraj Vora comedy track in "Daud"

"the treatment was different as night and day"

How? They both began quick then settled into a slow & tedious pace, incorporating unnecessary romance/comedy tracks and finally ending in predictable climax

The cinematography by S Gopal Reddy was excellent, though "Daud" had some good cinematography as well.. neither helped much in improving the films

Hmm Guys... Whoever says that RGV's telugu films suckzz....

Money !!! That no-brainer...was a cult fav in those days...

Pity, I couldnt stand Johnny Lever as Aslam Bhai (instead of Brahmanandam as Khan Dada ..."Khan toh games aadaku, saelthi lechipotaye.." ) :D

IMO Siva cannot be made for 2 reasons :-

1.) No one can essay that role of Nagarjuna.. It was just raw energy and passion in da film ... Today's heroes are sissies when compared with him

2.) I dont think, anyone can recreate Illayaraja's music.. They may give something different but that flair, those tunes ( ala R.D.Burman-ish) can never be replicated

3.) Shiva had a power ensemble cast of unknowns (Esp. Tanikella Bharani, JD Chakravarty etc.. ) Hard to find such folks these days. Afterall the YashRaj candy-floss flicks are the trend in telugu movies also !

Kshana Kshnam never setlled into slow and tedious pace. The comedy tracks in Kshana Kshanam(Paresh rawal and his gang) were much subtler and the movie itself was not as loud as Daud. There was a much better chemistry between the lead pair.

I dont see a need to continue this - Yes it sucks and No it doesnt conversation. The reviews speak for themseleves.

"I dont see a need to continue this"

Now that wouldn't be any fun :(

"The reviews speak for themseleves"

Exactly the review does speak for itself..

"Unfortunately not many appreciated this movie, and it was not as big a hit as Shiva"

According to this review you posted by this guy - the points which stand out in the film are..

- The blend of a comedy and a thriller

- The film taking place within 48 hours

- Hollywood style cinematography

According to this criteria the Eddie Murphy/ Nick Nolte films " 48 Hrs." & "Another 48 Hrs." must be some of his fav of all time

A Master at cutting sentences to put them out of context? I am not against continuing conversations. I was saying that there is not need of reiterating the same points and you cut that out.

So what not many appreciated Khamoshi that doesnt make it bad.. Did I claim that it was a big hit? On the contrary I pointed out that mainly urban audiences appreciated his movies

And for you Godfather and Dayavan are the same because they have similar storylines

reiterating?

Throughout this whole thread you maintain that KK is a well appreciated film with comments such as...

"Kshana Kshanam is regarded as one of the best action/comedy films ever" and

"its on the top 10 lists on many people personal lists"

and yet your very own source contradicts you?

There is no mention of urban audience appreciation

Who to believe :?:
