It appears DEV is not creating the kind of interest it deserves... 2 pages on DEV so far and 8 pages on LAKSHYA? Maybe DEV is too deep and meaningful and audience are scared they might have to think, and LAKSHYA have all the masala that we are used to....

:)

Was Aaliya Raped?

The riot scene in which the Hindu crowd is massacreing the Muslim community and Bachchan's police force is instructed not to help by the politicians, Aaliya (Kareena) is attacked by a gang of men trying to rape her... But when Farhan (Fardeen) gets there, Aaliya is in shock, and its not made very clear if she was gang raped or not... In such circumstances, rape is inevitable, but I wonder why it didn't happen, and if it did happen, why it wasn't made clear....?

Anyone seen the film, like to comment?

Thats a weak part of the script and I believe they were not up to dramatize the rape or no rape scene, and all for good reason! However, if you remember when Aaliya was relating the attack she said after the killing of her freind and family she blacked out! Whats interesting just before they cut away she was grabed by two guys and yanked away from the table that had the knife, yet when Farhaan found her she had a bloody knife in her hand and no sign of her assailants bodies or evidence that she did do some damage in fending them off!

Having reviewed that scene again, I think Aaliya was not raped. The scene was cut at the point she was looking for a knife. And, when Farhan found her, she was holding that knife with blood on it, and there was a quick shot of the guys dead next to her... I would have preferred it if she got raped, as that would have been more realistic. Perhaps, the director wanted the heroine to maintain her virginity for the hero, like the films of the yesteryears!

Yes you are right, I reveiwed the scene again and saw a dead body lying besides her! Strange how sometimes you can miss a small but important detail. How she got the knife? Just before the cut away one of the two guys pushed her towards the table and ran away while the other guy hanged on to her. I surmised she would have been able to grab the knife and killed the him!. Was her friend raped? again just before that scene was cut you can hear her screaming while two guys were groping her on the bed!

Of all the movies AB released this month, he has the meatiest role in DEV. And to the credit of the movie it raises many an uncomfortable question. It makes you squirm and think. It brings about on screen conversations that are held around the coffee table, over a round of drinks but never quite seriously addressed. That is what makes the movie interesting. Yet it lacks something that i have not been able to pinpoint. The first half was really very nice and the second half petered off into something boring. I believe Om Puri was miscast or his role was not fully developed enough. Even Bachchan was miscast as the cop that is torn. It may have been nice to see their roles reversed in a delicious turn of irony, but that is just wishful thinking. DEV worked in parts and in some it did not. Fardeen and Kareena actually do impress. DEV though is another case of what could have been!

Did Kareena actually used her own sweet singing voice in this movie.

Jub Nahin Aaye The Tum is sang by Kareena Kapoor. In the CD, there is another version of this song too, sang by Vijayeta Pandit!

Sorry Sweet friend, I guess your taste is little different than man. U prefer monkey faced woman like her and I prefer hot girls like Rani Mukharjee. What do I know about her beauty?? what are you a fifth grader?? What do u know about her beauty?? Kareena's face is the worst looking face on indian film industry. God, thinking about her is making me puke. btw, just FYI, luckily I dont have to get someone out of the street yet. Even If I get a chance to break kareenas cherry (seems like its been taken since she is 8 years old), I wont. she is that too damn ugly.

I see the quality of discussion on this forum has started to imitate the quality of Indian DVDs. Shabhash.

Yeah, let's stick to whether or not Kareena can act. Personal attacks are unnecessary.

Are you insinuating RANI MUKHERJEE is a lesbian...? I know she has a deep husky voice at times, but that makes her more beautiful!
