Rituparno Ghosh's RAINCOAT...Gulzar writes a poem

Rituparno Ghosh looks charmed by Gulzar’s selfless gesture. The famous poet-filmmaker refused to charge for the poem he wrote for Rituparno’s film Raincoat starring Aishwarya Rai and Ajat Devgan.

Says Ritu, “During the making of Raincoat, I decided to incorporate a poem, written by Gulzar, into a song that was to be sung by Ajay.

Then we thought Ajay should narrate the poem also. When I spoke to Gulzar he agreed instantly and composed a beautiful poem. I told him he should narrate it and we would record it so Ajay could hear and recite it according to the nuances.

But when Ajay heard the recitation he said he couldn’t recite it as beautifully as Gulzar. So we have kept his actual recitation. What touched me the most is that after investing so much of care, time and effort into the whole thing Gulzarsaab refused to charge a single paise to us.”

Psst! A little birdie told us that according to Ajay Devgan, Aishwarya Rai is the best thing in the film.

“She has given a wonderful performance in the film,” is what he has been saying to his friends. Something that is echoed by the director himself. A great fan club we have going here eh?

Me not!! I prefer any day IJAZAT over RAIN COAT!

Ijazat/Rekha, Music, Poetry, Mysticism, Dialogues, Naseer!! I am not ready to replace it with anything, even if it is RAIN COAT or not!
