Does anyone on Zulm in the UK watch Bollywood Star? What do you make of it? I think the judges are useless and are quite unfair to some participants. The judges themselves are not as connected to the 'Bollywood' film industry as they make out. For those of you who want to find out more about the show visit the link below.

My uni lecturer told me about the show. I didnt bother to watch it as sounds like a desi version of popidol and I'm not bothered about shows like that even with a "bollywood" novelty format. If the judges aren't connected to Bollywood then how the hell do they know whats to look for in a Hindi star???

The judges don't really know what to look for, they only choose who they think may have a chance. Whoever wins will appear in a Mahesh Bhatt film...I know that it immediatly looks bad when his name is mentioned. Some people have commented of how it could be biased or even fixed as one of the judges Sophia Haque is friends with one of the contestants - Sophia Hayat...and of course chose her to be put forward with the finalists. Meanwhile the same Sophia Haque had turn down a contestant who obviously has far more talent to be a star by saying "I'm not convinced this time". You can see her bias clearly, but the other judges don't help either! You got Bally Sagoo who tries to copy Simon Cowell.

its hilarious..... as for the judges, theyre doing their job well.... at the end of the day, the talent is crap and even i'd tell people how crap they are.... but saying that, what on earth is going on with allowing rupak through to the finals.. i mean, yes she probably has a pinch of talent, but how on earth can anyone see her as a bollywood star.. And, as for sofia hayat.... she is crap... shes a cheap tart... deserves a few slaps if u ask me... but the one person who i really feel can pull it off is the Bengali Waiter... that guy has charisma.... heheheh

POOJA BHATT thought not! She described him as "not a performer"... Bechera, he will have to continue with his restaurant trade.

The gori with a fantastic smile and the moti won so far. Guess the moti will be no competition to Aishwariya even if she makes it in Bollywood...

:)

I was surprised that the Bengali waiter and Rivola got rejected. But I can see why the bengali was rejected - he seemed to copy Mithun and SRK alot and he overdone it with some of his performances. The gori was quite good but I think last week's gori was better, cuter and could even speak some Hindi. I think Sofia Hayat will win it, though many other rejects better deserved it than her and the long-haired guy may win also as I think they need a male character. It would be terrible if the moti wins it - I don't think she deserves it and I think she got this far out of pity - her sad story of her mother dying which she kept pushing.

I know alot of the muslim community in UK hate Sofia Hayat because they say she's a disgrace to their religion. But then again isn't music and dance and sensuality supposed to be a taboo? So why support it by looking at bollywood films? Why lust after other bollywood women when one of their own in films, makes them fell ashamed? Isn't it hypocritical?

Anyway I think Sofia has a bad attitude and huge ego but I loved it when Shaimak Davar gave her a blasting! She just couldn't take it. It was like a slap in the face...and yes I think she deserved it!

Don't these people have more ambition than to be in a Hindi movie? Aren't there quite a few opportunities for South Asian actors in the UK?

And whats that gotta do with the price of fish... sophia is a angel compared to some of the pakistani/muslim women i know.. as for liking/disliking sophia.. i personally cant stand her... i hated her when she presented sorted and still do... shes bland, she cant act and most of all shes too stook up... thats her drawback.. not becauses shes a tarted up muslim...

Anyway... sophia does win the tournament... and i think its pretty pathetic seeing rupak and heidi go through... Ravioli (or whatever her name was) and saydur were hard done by....

Yeah, I'd say Rivona and Sayd should've gone through and Rupak & Heidi dismissed. Heidi couldn't dance for a start and was cracking under the pressure. Rupak should've never got through the auditions. I think they feel guily to kick Rupak off as she keeps reminding people of her mother's death story.

I personally think there were a few more people in the auditions who should've gone though and would've made far better stars than the ones they chose. It would've been better if this was done on a larger scale and the public could've voted...to a degree at least.

I've been watching this, and think it's pretty funny!!!! One of the funniest things is that they're all taking it soooooooo seriously - from the contestants right down to the initial judges (Bally Sagoo and Sophiya Haque especially - the 'experts' on Bollywood.............) Realistically speaking, none of them are gonna get anywhere in Bollywood...............apart from in some C-grade film like Indian Babu!!

By the way, one of the girls who got through to the final (where there were 20-odd of them) was at uni with me...............doing chemical engineering.............I believe she's back at uni now..........

Indian Babu...I remember seeing a bbc programme about the guy who was the main star of that. I think his parents are owners of Himalaya Carpets in UK and he used to be in the Himalaya Carpets adverts a few years back. I guess that was the only 'acting experience' he had. I see he's got a new film out now.

Now that the final show is over I can't believe that Rupak won! I don't think she deserved it and don't think any of the finalists should've even been there. None of them were really that talented. Some people in the Auditions (such as Tia) were better.

I don't know who is gonna pay money to see Rupak in a Bollywood film, let alone a Mahesh Bhatt film. I wonder if Mahesh chose her just because she was the only one to put her hand up when he asked "who thinks they've won?". I don't know how he would've turned down another person if they had put their hand up. In the third episode Sofia and Rivona said something of they heard the show was fixed and Rupak was already chosen as the winner, maybe there was some truth in this. Rupak kept pushing her mother's death story at every given opportunity, maybe the programme makers fely sorry for her and pushed it in her favour. I mean her mother died over nine years ago and she still hasn't got over it. Who knows how long it would've taken her to get over her loosing this competition?

faddy, I guess Sofia didn't win in the end. Did you hear that from barficulture?
